Zenned is an Arch-based desktop Linux distribution which runs the KDE Plasma desktop. The project provides a friendly, live environment and the Calamares system installer to help users get started.
To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "plasma-desktop" package and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
Colour scheme:green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

It really is an intuitive and clearly simplified operating system.
As a drawback and at first, due to its differences with common software, you may find yourself a little disoriented, since it changes the concept of desktop and usability, but in reality it is a temporary and transitory problem, since when you become a little familiar with the system, what you get is a system that is much simpler to use, more intuitive and free of most of the interferences of all kinds that traditional systems have. This clearly works in favor of the user, as soon as they become a little familiar with the new system.
Since it is free of many interferences and updates are practically automatic, the system is not only simpler, more practical and easier to use, but it is also much safer, which is an important added value.
It offers everything you need in a simplified way, but the potential and possibilities for the user are numerous, being able to add the complexity that each user decides or needs.
At the moment, there are no errors, incompatibilities or impediments that proprietary operating systems impose, forcing you to update, install or purchase them as time goes by and you need these problems to be solved. Automatic updates add value because the system is maintained in real time and permanently, without the need to download or buy what the owner of the system requires in order to keep it operational and/or with good performance. It is important that you do not have to worry about or have to search for or download updates, Zenned seems to do it for itself, without you even knowing.
For those who pursue intensive use of games, Zenned offers great possibilities, both for old games, as well as modern games, this is very difficult to find.
As it has simplified versions of the most common and used applications, it is easy and practical to use for the vast majority of users, for whom the most important thing is that it is easy, intuitive and fast. Almost all systems, like most mobile terminals, offer and have installed a large number of applications and programs that are never used by the user. This commercial strategy is aimed at dazzling the user with the number of possibilities it offers, but in reality it only causes great difficulties of use and a large number of interferences that distract and make it difficult to use the system and the hardware. In Zenned you have everything you need in a simple way and you decide if you want to use other things or expand the applications and programs. The system works in a fluid and fast way, which in proprietary systems is progressively lost and complicated, leaving it in the hands of them to decide what updates to make and how much you must pay, until they finally discard the software and force you to buy the new one, which sometimes does not even mean real improvements for the user.
Finally, I want to highlight the possibility that Zenned opens up for you if you have an old computer that you can't use because you can't install updates, or its components are obsolete. My case is that I have a Mac from 2009, which worked perfectly and was of very good quality, but I couldn't use it for years because Apple (as it does in all its versions when time passes) no longer allows updates to new software. What I did was change a solid disk and double the RAM memory, but these changes didn't solve the problem. Afterwards I installed Zenned and the computer works like the first day, it responds like a shot and smoothly. With just over 100 euros I have a quality computer back as if it were new, adding that it is much easier to use.
Conclusion:
I think that Zenned represents a paradigm shift in the use of operating systems and in their simplification, security and updating, three great advantages for the user that other systems do not offer. The drawback of its different appearance, which can be disorienting at first, is resolved by itself as soon as you use it a few times.
Finally!! Zenned is the Linux-based operating system I've been searching for. Let me be clear: I have no technical background in computers or programming. I'm simply an end user who doesn't want to deal with code or complicated features. After growing tired of the Windows ecosystem and having no interest in becoming an Apple acolyte, I found exactly what I needed in Zenned.
Zenned is simple, easy to set up, user-friendly, and minimalist—and it really works! Every update occurs automatically, so you don't need to worry about maintenance. When your computer starts, it doesn't bother you with an endless list of updates; instead, these happen quietly in the background while you work on your daily tasks.
I strongly recommend installing Zenned for a simple yet completely reliable PC experience. I also trust its creator, who has made significant contributions to Linux, programming, and application development. He’s created an operating system for everyone, whether you're an expert or a basic user like me.
Simple and clean, useful and quite intuitive. During my tests I haven't find any bug or major problem. Like someone said before me, it just works, and works fine. I read in the reviews about some technical problems, bu the experiencie using it can be described as kind, at least for someone like me, who is just a basic user. I fell the same way when browsing, in my case using firefox.
It needs work, but for now is a great choice for anyone who wants something simple but great.
