Synex is a GNU/Linux distribution based on Debian's "Stable" branch, developed with the official Debian Live Build tool. It offers four separate desktop options with GNOME, LXDE, KDE Plasma and Xfce, all of which are composed of a rather frugal set of applications in its default state, without any development tools or offices suites. Some of the distribution's main features include Calamares installer with support for both BIOS and UEFI, CUPS integration for printing and network support, out-of-the box support for Flatpak applications, official NVIDIA driver installation assistant with support for both X11 and Wayland, and additional repositories containing Microsoft Edge, OnlyOffice and Zabbix.
To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "plasma-desktop" package and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
Colour scheme:green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

This is an amazing Distro! This distro succeeds where Q4OS and Quark OS fails. The latter use an old version of KDE. Synex uses the latest KDE and the latest kernel. I always consider most distros heavily bloated. Full of apps I never use. For example, the LibreOffice suite. I usually have to go and uninstall all of these apps. So to get a working minimal distro is a delight for me. For app packages I prefer appimages. So getting Gear Lever up and running was a breeze. And most of the appimages I use check for updates themselves. Even on windows I preferred portable apps. I like getting the same functionality without everything being installed to the system. This is also a good habit with all the immutable distros out there. Synex just suits my needs perfectly. It also has the MX package installer. I doubt I'll use that, since I only used it on MX to remove packages that were preinstalled on MX. This distro comes with the Vivaldi browser, which I replaced with Brave. I used Vivaldi before for a while, but it doesn't block popups and ads as well as Brave. So with my Webapps installed via Brave and my Appimages. I feel this is the distro for me. Although it reminds me of Peppermint, except it does use systemD unfortunately. The only way I feel Synex could improve, was if they made a spin without systemD. Kind of like the option MX gives. But that's a minor formality, considering how well this system works. The smoothness and fluid UI make it very pleasing. No Plasma crash as of yet. So this distro gets a 10 from me! Hope this review is helpful for the undecided out there. I'm a end user that just wants a distro to stream my movies and music without all that system junk running in the background. And watching the system monitor, I see that's what I get with Synex.
I have been looking for a minimal Debian distro, so thought i would give Synex a try.
So, lets start what i didn't like.
1 . The website needs to changed, half the text is unreadable, white text on white backgound.
2. I don't like being forced to use a long password, why this a thing i don't know. please change that, leave up to the user what password they want to use, some people might want a short password, on normal Debian i can use a short password.
so, what i did like.
1. the installer is better than the standard Debian installer, besides the password requirement.
2. It is a minimal install , which i like a lot.
3. Flatpak's enabled .
4.installed without problems and setup quickly .
5. Nice to have auto login option.
Would i choose to install Synex instead of Debian Gnome, yes.
Synex is exactly what it promises: polished Debian without unnecessary bloatware.
If you're expecting preinstalled office suites or development tools out of the box, this isn't for you—and that's fine. This distro is built for users who want full control without the noise.
What stands out in Desktop: genuinely improved performance over vanilla Debian, solutions to recurring issues (fonts, integrated NVIDIA drivers), and thoughtful details like configuration propagation to newly created users.
**What's coming with Synex Server and ServerHub sounds spectacular.** A TUI tool that will automate enterprise deployments in minutes: LAMP, Docker, Nginx Proxy Manager, Nextcloud, Zabbix, GLPI, Odoo. No manual configs, no human error. Full audit trails, automatic dependency resolution, securely generated credentials. Exactly what sysadmins, MSPs, and SMBs need for consistency and reproducibility.
Solid foundation, no nonsense. Synex Desktop for clean work, Synex Server as a future tool. Recommended.
