Table Notes and Explanations

(Please refer to the table below.)
  • Select view:
  • To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
  • Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "plasma-desktop" package and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
  • Colour scheme: green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

this distribution is not abandoned
there are lot of errors while compiling, but i think for someone with compiling expirience thos will not be too difficult errors to solve.
also there is small community on irc very active and they are always ready to help. Even more of that, they have repair some packages for me in repo, even they did others developers job for me - what is not their problem but problem of the application maintainer.
i was just shocked looking on irc how they sharing code and ideas to repair old abandodned packages for me.
Great community
what i dont like is prompt compiler, its not like gentoo where you have to edit text confg files... all config is in prompt compiler - installer.
it willl keep asking about any single support and this can becom very boring, its much easier to edit txt files and just let it compile.
But once installation is finished and desktop is running, things are getting better
as much you compile your system from start it will be less and less errors because base will be recompiled and refreshed.
at the end of the day, prompts will be over, installation will be finished and we will found ourselfs in really magical environment.
Sorcery is great tool, it is very fast and powerfull but its not easy to understand, it reques some some learning curve
im giving the distibution 10/10, there are a lot of errors during installation, but this is not user friendly distribution and its not polished like gentoo so user should expect errors while compiling
I have learnd a lot thanks to this errors and im keep learning every single day while im trying to understand sorcery and how it works on deep scale.
if you are a gentoo user and you want to learn more or test your knowledge, you should try source mage
