Table Notes and Explanations

(Please refer to the table below.)
  • Select view:
  • To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
  • Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "plasma-desktop" package and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
  • Colour scheme: green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

Great distro for experts.

Comes with all necessary tools. Its easy to add own software when you have some compiling experience.

You can choose between Live and Desktop release which have the same tools but different start media.

Live: A small version without GUI just console, a standard version with GUI and a version for blind people!

Desktop: x86 32 and 64 bit, ARM (Raspberry Pi and others) 32 bit.

There are also scripts to create a LAMP server.

PLOP DISTRO

I tried the live: it is a nice try, but it still needs a lot of work.
It’s main aim is: “It is designed to rescue data from a damaged system, backup and restore operating systems, automate tasks and more”.

But it is not true.

The reality is that now it is almost a barebone distro without the normal tools that one can expect from a resque-live.

When I search info on the Plop’s website I found (as an example) that it works fine with F_PROT antivirus (that was discontinued in 2012 !!!).

I think there is still a lot of work to be done, but the basis is solid and the man who works there is too lonely.
With a little help it could become an excellent starting point for future developments
