Table Notes and Explanations

(Please refer to the table below.)
  • Select view: Major packages only (52) All tracked packages (226)
  • To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
  • Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "plasma-desktop" package and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
  • Colour scheme: green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

My favorite distribution over the last 18years of Linux experimentation trying everything from Debian, Redhat, Mandrake, Mandriva, Storm Linux, Linux From Scratch, Manjaro, Blackarch, Kali, SuSe, Caldera OpenLinux, Slackware & others. Really, everyone no matter their goals should give Parrot Linux a try! :)

I really love the fact they made a penetration testing distribution secure enough to be a daily driver (sandboxed app customization, firejail etc) but also one that offers its own privacy tools like Anon Surf

Anon Surf allows you to route ALL your traffic including ICMP ping packets through tor network (at will, not required; turn off and on whenever you want) while preventing DNS cache leaks etc. They have also incorporated OpenNIC that helps keep your DNS resolves more private as well from ISP snooping (very common).

Sweet tool! Makes it easy to surf/connect in confidence.

Give it a try! You can try it live before you install to make sure you like it. I love Parrot!
My thanks out to the team :) I will be sticking with Parrot (btw it is beautiful to look at)

One of the best distros I have used. I started with Parrot Security Edition 3 years ago as dual boot, then a year and a half ago got rid of windows and set ParrotSec as my main DE (laptop) and never looked back. Helpful and responsive dev team and user community that you can reach on the forums or via Telegram chats.

If you are a pentester, hacker or a security professional this one is a far better distro than Kali IMO...more organized tools sets and better overall funcionality. I prefer the MATE interface, but if you like "pretty" give the new KDE Plasma a go.
