Table Notes and Explanations

(Please refer to the table below.)
  • Select view: Major packages only (52) All tracked packages (226)
  • To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
  • Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "plasma-desktop" package and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
  • Colour scheme: green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

It's certainly a solid distro no doubt.

I like to play around with other distro's and my main go-to is Mint so I install and manage my bootloader via Mint. Manjaro doesn't like to play well with other bootloader's ( it's possible to get it to work but yet find a method that is totally foolproof ) and this is the only reason I don't use Manjaro. I know I could run a Virtual Machine of the system, but where possible I like to take advantage of the physical hardware I have available.

Unlike myself however, if you just want a single distro on your computer that is stable, solid and just helps you get on with your daily requirements with relative ease I certainly would encourage you to give this one a shot.

Manjaro Cinnamon 18 stable - what a disaster!

Wanted to take a look at it in a live session. After having removed all that blackness, I set the panel to "Never show", 50 milliseconds, just like in Linux Mint. What happened? Black screen, "recovery mode"! Restart Cinnamaon? Yes. Result? Black screen, "recovery mode"! Restart Cinnamaon? Yes. Result? Black screen. And so on and on and on. The only way out was the reset button.

I consider this a major bug. Maybe it only occurs in a live session, I don't know. But I certainly won't install Manjaro Cinnamon. Not even alongside Linux Mint.

I'm originally a Windows user, who turned over to the dark side with Ubuntu, but after a few years of Ubuntu as my primary (and only) desktop OS, I started to look for other distros because of the sudden bloat I started to feel with my Ubuntu 16.04. After trying out several distros, I finally decided to go with Arch. I fell in love with Arch, and although I loved playing with the difficult configuration, I also wanted to set up a perfect Arch installation for my office work. That's when I started trying out ArchLabs, ArchBang, Antergos and Manjaro. And I have to say, despite all the hate Manjaro gets for releasing updated late, it is "the" only distro that sets up in no time, and lets you GET TO WORK. I'm a software engineer working for the medical sector, so I need to tackle mission critical apps with my OS. Manjaro allows me to do that, with blinding convenience.
Let's just say I have a new computer with no OS, and my boss calls me up to solve a problem with one of my hospital software systems. If I opt for Manjaro, I could start working on my problem in about 15 minutes.
