However, you cant install xlibre and on hp laptops, it cant see the grubx64.efi so has to be moved. Devuan resolved the grubx64.efi path issue so not entirely sure why expirion still has this considering its meant to be from excalibur. Went back to devuan and worked around permission issues. Would appreciate it if the dev can fix both those issues. Not being able to install xlibre is a deal breaker for me. Gives some error about firestorm not being listed. Was this review helpful? Yes No Version: 6.4-260407 Rating: 10 Date: 2026-04-12 Country: Argentina Votes: 5 I installed this distro yesterday (April 11, 2026) simply because it’s Devuan with an LXQt flavor—it won me over instantly. Rock-solid but sleek with LXQt, I plan to stick with this distro for a couple of years to escape all the SystemD nonsense, age verification, and forced woke stuff found in other distros/flavors. It might be cool in the future if it let you choose the init system, instead of just sticking you with the classic Sysvinit. I switched to Runit after installing everything, and it’s absolutely smooth. I hope this distro stays alive, sticks around for a long time, and keeps the LXQt flavor, which is the GOAT. I am looking for ways to disable tooltips in LXQT before I become a QT developper. There are three fads currently running: transparency, round corners and tooltips, and of those three I cannot stand tooltips. They get in the way and disrupt my workflow. I thought someone may have solved this problem, but unfortunately not Expirion. Expirion LXQT installs fine and comes with sensible default settings. Although some bias towards multimedia: brasero, audacity, hadnbrake... most perplexing of all, easytag as default fm? While there is no single program to edit images. No lazpaint, no mtpaint, no kolourpaint, no pinta, no gimp. There is some lag after startup. Normally, in systemd distros, when panel and desktop are set up, you are ready to go. here you click on terminal for example and must wait a couple of seconds before it appears. Also the installed size of 6-7 GB is big, considering Devuan base, Anyway, it installs fine and works, which cannot be said about many more reputable distros. Was this review helpful?
