Table Notes and Explanations

(Please refer to the table below.)
  • Select view:
  • To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
  • Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "plasma-desktop" package and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
  • Colour scheme: green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

I actually use Enso 0.1. Love the look and feel and the eye candy provided by Gala and Plank. As I don't love Thunar (though it works flawlessy) I installed Nemo and I'm going on with it pretty nicely.
Nice distro, give it a try

I really like this distro, the look and the feel is good. Installed easily without issue. It has more than a passing resemblance to elementaryos and would prefer a dock (be default) instead of the solid base bar. To make it really stand out, possibly find ways to make it look more different. Works well an will no doubt catch on.

I tried Enso 0.2 for a day (only) and while I like the concept, decided that it is not for me. Install #1 went fine, but I kept getting password incorrect error. That is, before I read the comment on this page (keyboard set to UK English by default, and can be changed easily). This is not a deal breaker, but more clarity in the installation notes/ page could save some time and some heads from being banged against the wall. Post install, the menu is nice- but screen's real estate at the bottom is taken up (@ 10 percent) by 'plank'. Disabling it does the job and gives a wider screen. Granted this distro is in its early stages of infancy, but the U/Xububtu base is more than evident- makes me wonder why not use stock Xubuntu instead. Having said that, I wish the developers all the best for their work!
