Table Notes and Explanations

(Please refer to the table below.)
  • Select view: Major packages only (52) All tracked packages (226)
  • To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
  • Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "plasma-desktop" package and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
  • Colour scheme: green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

This is a really nice distro. I really gotta say how nice it looks. I was drawn to try it because of XFCE. After the install the first thing I check is mem use from the terminal. It was using 700mb after boot up which is quite high for XFCE even higher than LM Cinnamon but lower than Ubuntu Gnome. The animations make it look slower than it really is when opening up Thunar and other stuff. They should speed that up or allow you to change it. I didn't spend enough time to find out if you could. I also didn't see a setting for expanding the plank across the whole length of the screen. I am still very interested in playing with this distro and watching for later releases. It is a very interesting distro and different even though it pulls elements from Elementary OS I still found Enso .3 to be interesting enough on its own. Hoping they can get that memory usage down a bit but I will be watching this one.

I ran Enso OS on an old laptop and it worked fine, any and all problems I encountered where solved hours after posting a question on the github or wherever. For a distro with a single developer you may expect quite a bit of hickups however, I did not experiance anything too detremental and the distro worked better than expected having only one developer and all that.

It's an absolutly beautiful looking distro that runs really well on at least my old asus laptop, so I approve of this distro!

Like this distro too, I am looking for Debian Firefox/Thunderbird usually go back to LinuxMint but Enso OS seems to have a nicer (smoother) interface. Even works well under VMWare Workstation with no issues. Keep the Windows 7 Theme - when Windows 7 expires maybe a whole lot of people will choose Enso OS as replacement. Also suggest adding LiberOffice or OnlyOffice suite. Version .03 still has Thurnar file manager and the Icons show pretty large on screen OK for that small screen netbook/laptop. Going forward hope to see newer updated versions on a regular basis.
Thank you for the hard work on this...
