Table Notes and Explanations

(Please refer to the table below.)
  • Select view:
  • To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
  • Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "kdelibs" and "plasma-desktop" packages and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
  • Colour scheme: green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

I tried Enso 0.2 for a day (only) and while I like the concept, decided that it is not for me. Install #1 went fine, but I kept getting password incorrect error. That is, before I read the comment on this page (keyboard set to UK English by default, and can be changed easily). This is not a deal breaker, but more clarity in the installation notes/ page could save some time and some heads from being banged against the wall. Post install, the menu is nice- but screen's real estate at the bottom is taken up (@ 10 percent) by 'plank'. Disabling it does the job and gives a wider screen. Granted this distro is in its early stages of infancy, but the U/Xububtu base is more than evident- makes me wonder why not use stock Xubuntu instead. Having said that, I wish the developers all the best for their work!

Just installed Enso 2 and so far its a pleasure to use. A little unique and a great layout. Be patient as its in beta. After the install my keyboard was set to English UK even though i chose US English during install. No big deal just change it in keyboard after install. Nice clean desktop thats easy to configure. The window manager also appears to be non functional but not needed. Will work on that. Take it out for a spin and see what you think. I'm giving it a 9. Thks
