After trying some of the more popular distros, each for several months, I'd inevitably return to Debian, but I prefer a minimalistic approach and using keyboard shortcuts, tiling, and using the keyboard as much as possible. After reading about BunsenLabs and the reviews, I decided to give it a spin first on VM, then on metal. Yes, there's a learning curve since BL has come a long way since the early days, but I'm impressed with how it functions and looks. So far, everything works as I expected and I've experienced no bugs. That said, I haven't tried out tweaking configs, etc. and may not need to at this point. It may very well become my daily driver. Yes No Version: carbon-1 Rating: 7 Date: 2026-03-01 Country: United Kingdom Votes: 13 I haven't used BunsenLabs Linux for a few years, at one time before I graduated I depended upon it. Back then it was light on resources and ran well on my hand-me-down laptop. Today it's still light on resources, and looks every bit as tidy and polished as it did my first time around with it. The only snag I did find was that though the install into VirtualBox proceeded without a hitch, once installed most of the screen elements and some of the applications appear to load but cannot be interacted with, or there's a blacked-out rectangle where I presume the app is supposed to be visible. Either way I couldn't try things like Firefox etc. I resized my main partition enough to give the OS 30gb of space then installed. Booting into BunsenLabs this way overcame the display problems I had in VirtualBox. All in all I have to say I do like it, it's quirky by comparison to something like KDE, but it's very rapid and very polished. I liked it. Was this review helpful? Yes No Version: boron-1 Rating: 9 Date: 2025-08-18 Votes: 17 As a new Linux user naturally I tried around 50 Distros before regaining hold of my sanity and settling for Debian 13. Two of the other most memorable Distros I use for my other laptop are PeppermintOS and Bunsenlabs, firstly they both look unique. Bunsenlabs is fast and only uses 805mb of ram on idle, cosmetically it looks brilliant, very minimalist and of of all of the lightweight Distros its definitely one of the best. It was very fast to install despite what TechRadar says. If you want a lightweight, fast and unique Distro Bunsenlabs is up there with the best Was this review helpful?
