Bodhi Linux is an elegant and lightweight Debian/Ubuntu-based distribution featuring Moksha, an Enlightenment-17-based desktop environment. The project takes a decidedly minimalist approach by offering modularity, high levels of customisation, and choice of themes. Bodhi releases come in several editions, including Standard (64-bit) and Legacy (32-bit) which are minimalist, only including a web browser, terminal, file manger, text editor and photo GUI applications, while the AppPack edition includes more applications and tools preinstalled. Additional software can be added with Bodhi's web-based AppCenter, Synaptic, and APT.
To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "plasma-desktop" package and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
Colour scheme:green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

Bodhi is a disto that fully delivers on what it states its purpose is. Lightning fast, light on resources with rock solid stability Bodhi breathes new life new into even 20 plus year old hardware or turns newer hardware into a drag racer while wrapping everything up in a highly functional, eloquent, light, and beautiful Moksha desktop.
A huge plus is Bodhi even supports 32 bit and has a Debian edition to boot.
Bodhi also boasts on of the finest and friendliest support forums there is.
With the demise of LXLE those running older hardware now have one fewer options but Bodhi steps nicely into the void with its application edition.
A solid 10 out of 10 for doing what is stated,, stability, support, and performance.
Very fast and lightweight operating system. I'm using it on two of mine old laptops. Both of them have 4gb's of RAM. One of them has an intel core 2 duo cpu and the other one is an intel B940 processor. Both on 2Ghz. Everything is fine and works fast. Minimum fan usage on both systems.

I was able to Install Bodhi Linux 7 on a Chromebook Unlocked to UEFI firmwre, Celeron 3160 quadcore, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB eMMC. It is running smoothly. Elegant Moksha desktop with customization options. I have used other distributions in another machines, but Bodhi wins with Quality, light weight, light on processor and memory usage, great UI with less overhead. This is the best distro with value for all low end hardware if you have 2 GB RAM, their minimum requirement is like 750 MB to 1GB though.
I recommend developers and similar people to support this distro by spending some time to keep it alive and include exciting features.
