I _like_ it. It's _friendly;_ it's comfy; it's flexible & well-stocked with convenient apps & utilities. I find it's got almost a bohemian vibe, in its quirkiness. The devs have a certain I-did-it-my-way attitude. Being a creative, I like this. Big is very receptive to the user's interface esthetic & convenience customisations. It comes with tons of utility apps of all kinds. You'll keep bumping into friendly little touches you weren't expecting in a Linux distro. I particularly like the BigStore as a software app, nicely laid out and easy to toggle on/off the various package formats. But you do your updates in a different app called Software Updates – which will alert you from the System Tray. You choose this distro knowing that it's off a fork of Arch, an edge-y rolling release, and therefore there will occasionally be a few quirks after system updates. I've had a few, and once I resorted to an OS reinstall to fix something; but that was quick, and it ended up fine. And I could've saved myself that hassle if I'd been smart enough to have saved a backup system snapshot. I don't think Big is for anything but the most casual gaming. And I doubt it would tempt many coders, or business folks, or scientists. Soccer moms and grandfolks would probably find it distracting from their social media. (So stick with your spyware OS!) Big is eminently suited for the more casual home user, or for creative folks in general. It might appeal to some academics. Windows switchers could certainly make this work, though they might experience some whiplash at first launch. :^> (And I recommend it – or any Linux distro – to anybody that's fed up with My Krose Oft & Goo Ghol & App Hole logging their every move.) The tweaks the devs have made to KDE Plasma are a minor annoyance: If you search/AI for help with settings, some things are rearranged or renamed (vis-à-vis stock Plasma), making location of some specific settings a pain. I'm waiting for Plasma 6.7 to be available – I assume it's delayed cuz the Brazilian devs are busy butchering as I write! (June 2026). (Mind you, non-rolling release distros won't see 6.7 for _months._) The most common user complaints are a few instances of Portuguese here and there in menus & settings. The user forum is kind of a mish-mash of Portuguese, English, and some Spanish, and honestly, pretty sparse and not hugely helpful. I've gotten my help mostly from Duck.ai, and Brave Leo AI. Anyway, I'm comfy & cozy on BigLinux – it's where I live part time. Was this review helpful? It saves you a lot of time and is incredibly versatile. Pros: Flawless Booting: It booted without any hassle on my 13th Gen Intel i7 and RTX 4050 setup. For some reason, I couldn't get Manjaro to do the same. Excellent Live USB: The live USB OS is incredibly useful, packed with all the tools I need to rescue existing installations. Driver Manager: A truly great, user-friendly tool. Nvidia Integration: Love having the "Render with Nvidia" option right in the context menu. Seamless Networking: My network printer was added automatically. While it's not the hardest thing to do manually, it's great to have it work out of the box. Arch Benefits: You get all benefits of an Arch-based system. Cons: Unpolished Homegrown Apps: The custom built-in apps, like the Control Center and Big Store, still need some polish. There are a few lingering Portuguese text snippets and UI bugs. Desktop Integration: Because they are mostly GTK-based, they don't seem to integrate perfectly with the Plasma desktop environment. I wish I had discovered it much earlier, or that someone had recommended it to me. As its name suggests, it truly is a massive Linux distribution. Thanks to this distribution, I've completely given up on Windows. System specifications: Nvidia RTX5050 Intel 13450HX 16GB RAM The Nvidia driver is completely flawless. Games run perfectly. There are dozens of useful tools and features pre-installed. It makes it incredibly easy to use. Furthermore, I haven't encountered any problems so far. You can directly install printer and scanner drivers, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth drivers, touchscreen drivers, audio drivers, webcam and digital TV drivers, and many more drivers through Big Driver Manager. It's very effortless and stable. There are also ready-made themes, pre-configured settings, ready-made tools, and more. Thanks BigLinux. Thanks to everyone involved. Was this review helpful?
