And at first, my experience was definitely closer to a 10/10 - everything worked great, games ran smoothly enough, and since I had just been coming from using Windows for a few years again, everything felt so good in comparison to windows, I really didn't care. However, over time, I had more and more issues (that other review already covered), had trouble getting some games to work, and more and more things slowed down. It's possible some of this is user error, but going into Bazzite I was not what I'd called a beginner to linux or tech, still even I struggled, so that makes it extremely hard for me to recommend to someone that may not be as tech-y but still wants to game on Linux. Bazzite I think accomplishes in some part what it set out to do, is improving, and it is so easy to use that I feel I should recommend in some sense, but despite this - I don't know if I'd use it as a daily driver again soon (I have switched to CachyOS and am having much better performance with games) Was this review helpful? The unchangeable root feature really caught my attention, and I've been using it since version 22. Now I've become a volunteer installing BAZZITE on everyone's computers, and believe me, everyone is very happy. My own computer has an R9 3900x, 16 GB RAM, an RX5500xt 4 GB, an old mechanical hard drive, an SSD, and an NME2 drive. Believe me, my PC runs far better than Windows in every aspect. For example, I can even watch 8K video on my 1080P screen. Recently, I installed BAZZITE on a notebook that was built for military use and couldn't find Windows drivers. From the non-working touchscreen to the GPS, Bluetooth, and infrared, all its hardware started working perfectly with a single installation. Was this review helpful? Yes No Version: 42.20251019 Rating: 2 Date: 2026-04-26 Country: United States Votes: 0 First off, my PC specs: Ryzen 7 1700x 16Gb DDR4 2400 X370 ATX 256GB NVME RX 580 I'm installing this on an older system to play older games that do not run well on current hardware. The installer looks great but is very slow. When booting first boot into Bazzite it fails every time. I have tried the "custom" installer that you build from the website and the "default" installer that is supposed to just work. Both fail, every time on first boot. I either get 1. nothing, just a blank screen 2. a non-blinking cursor in the middle of the screen 3. a grub error 4. or "no bootable media found". I have made ALL of the recommended BIOS changes, UEFI on, CSM off, SecureBoot off. I guess I'm going to install SteamOS instead, it is annoying with its Big Mode, but it just works!
