Arch Linux is an independently developed, x86_64-optimised Linux distribution targeted at competent Linux users. It uses 'pacman', its home-grown package manager, to provide updates to the latest software applications with full dependency tracking. Operating on a rolling release system, Arch can be installed from a CD image or via an FTP server. The default install provides a solid base that enables users to create a custom installation. In addition, the Arch Build System (ABS) provides a way to easily build new packages, modify the configuration of stock packages, and share these packages with other users via the Arch Linux user repository.

Arch seems to be on an ever upward trajectory and deservedly so. I've been a user now for I'm guessing about six years, having moved on from derivatives that simply don't perform as well. Over that time I've seem Arch become more and more stable and they have added the brilliant archinstall script reducing the time it takes to install the OS to next to nothing.

It works on pretty much everything too. I have it on high end laptops but also an old netbook with 2GB of ram. The myth of cutting edge is just that. Make a nice custom install, choose a sensible desktop environment, keep it minimalist installing only what you need and you are away.

Yes you need to learn too but once you do the command line offers you a level of freedom you wont find using a GUI.

In short fantastic!!! 10/10.

At first I was hesitant to try Arch Linux because of its reputation for being difficult. However, after actually using it, Arch became my final and favorite choice. I experienced many problems on other distributions, but on Arch Linux everything runs smoothly and reliably. The system feels lightweight, fast, and very responsive.
The rolling release model, clean system design, and excellent documentation make Arch Linux a great choice for users who want full control and performance. Overall, it’s a powerful and enjoyable distribution once you take the time to learn it, and it has exceeded my expectations.

Super fun!

Distro hopped like crazy in the past ( Win11, OpenSuse, Debian, Mint ), and I never found enjoyment in any of them, partly because of the preinstalled bloat and partly because they lacked the customizability you get from Arch!
You start off bare bones with Arch, and you build it almost from the ground up how you like. I've loved my experience customising and tinkering with my Arch install, and I don't plan on stopping!

I believe Arch has been the most stable out of all distros I have used so far ( ikr?! ), and it has been my daily driver for the past two months.

I recommend Arch to anyone willing to tinker with their machine, because once you get it up and running, you just can't stop!
