Antergos is a modern, elegant and powerful operating system based on Arch Linux. It began life in 2012 under the name of Cinnarch, combining the Cinnamon desktop with the Arch Linux distribution; later the project moved on from its original goals and started offering several other desktop options. The distribution halted all development in 2019, but was revived in June 2026 as a community project called Antergos NeXT, not affiliated with the original development team. The new Antergos maintains its rolling-release model, uses KDE Plasma in live mode, and ships with the original graphical installation program called Cnchi.

 The Revival of Antergos is a great news for Open Source Community

Unfortunately, this event only become symbolic hype because the developer is 'notoriously' well-known for its consistency. The celestia foundation, the 'revived' Antergos developer(s), have developed some distributions such as solara, moonlight-aeon, and an immutable distro (i forgot its name lol). And none of those work well and developed further.

And this not-work-well cycle continue happening in 'Revived' Antergos, the so "called" Cnchi installer can't be launched whether on VM or bare metal machine (this bugs also happened on Solara LOL). I decided to join its matrix channel and report this bugs. But none of its developer(s) response quickly. Like come'on, the installer bugs is the major bugs on an developer and it should be responded quickly. How can someone tries the stability and usability of distro if the distro itself can't be installed on a machine LOL.

The developer truly use the well-known and big name of Antergos to gain popularity.
So disappointed.

 I miss this distro, it was fast and stable as hell. They say endeavour is the successor but it's not, it uses the terminal to install where antergos used pamac and also cinnamon desktop. Antergos was a beginners daily driver almost like windows xp so simple and fast and unlike windows 10 your system and internet were fast, now I have endeavour install WITH pamac though that was jumping through hoops to get that installed in xfce though I ended up with not the gtk but the bad type like gnome without the window edges or top being defined so if behind it was white then it was like dumping white paint into milk, you couldn't tell where pamac window ended and the desktop or window below it started so it's lame like gnome is lame or not thought out just a foolish dream since the window edges are great for people that use a mouse and the title bar area are also great so you know you're not clicking the window below so pamac disappears when you give focus to the window you just clicked and that is why gtk is better, not cheaping out on code to define a programs window that is important to users. Yeah Antergos disappeared and so did my favorite distro though I'm sure I'd have manjaro or mx as my favorite distro by now seeing they likely wouldn't have implimented nvidia drivers as well as either like most distro's are bad at that.
