ROSA is a Russian company developing a variety of Linux-based solutions. Its flagship product, ROSA Desktop, is a Linux distribution featuring a highly customised KDE desktop and a number of modifications designed to enhance the user-friendliness of the working environment. The company also develops an "Enterprise Server" edition of ROSA which is based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "plasma-desktop" package and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
Colour scheme:green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.
- great stability
- fast performance in web browsers
- easy to install new or old Nvidia drivers
- RMP, snapd and Flatpak support for excellent compatibility
- one of the best LXQt implementations
- beautiful and productive desktop experience
- excellent security
- dnfdragora is fast, reliable and convenient
- very user-friendly Linux distro
- large collection of applications in the default repo
- the preinstalled packages are decent
(I only replaced qpdfview with Okular, Trojita with Kmail)
This operating system doesn't really have a major flaw.

my wifi doesn't work, it is the firsth linux distro in 8 years on my laptop in which I have problems with wifi.
I had to use ethernet, which is unconvenient.
Also the distro feels outdated, the tools are pretty old, other mandriva based distros moved to dnf,
and are easier to use and much more innovative, while this distro feels like it is the year 2005 again.
Also i had problems with codecs in this distro, sound was weird and videos were not looking good.
And the connection to software repo was slow, felt like ADSL and 2000s again.

I started using ROSA Linux and i thought - "oh, it wont be good, it's russian domestic distro...."
But... Its completely different story. Its good, fast, and not just fast, its VERY fast. Compared to openSUSE and Fedora, its just like i bought a new fast car after my old cheap car.
Although ROSA website is translated to english through google translate, their distro is fully usable with english and fully translated.
Installer is easy to use, it took 5 minutes to install.
Yandex Browser is installed from the box, but its easy to delete:
1. Open terminal
2. Write "dnf remove yandex*"
3. Confirm - thats all.
ROSA's repository is big and i found all packages i need there.
Steam for gaming, Lutris for windows games - in repository.
GUI Package Manager - dnfdragora, i cannot say that its easy to use, but its not difficult also.
KDE, GNOME, xfce, LXQT and server version are available to download.
Probably its the best distro for newbies. And for me :)
