Topologilinux
Topologilinux was a Slackware-based distribution designed primarily to be installed inside an existing Windows system. As of version 6.0, it can also be installed as a standalone distribution using the standard Slackware installer. Compared to Slackware, however, Topologilinux was enhanced with GNOME, OpenOffice.org and other popular applications.

Vagner Rodrigues has announced the release of Litrix Linux 9.0, a Gentoo-based Brazilian live DVD. According to the release announcement, Litrix Linux 9.0 is designed as a general-purpose distribution that can be used in live mode or as a complete operating system installed run from a hard disk. It contains a good mix of applications for both work and entertainment. The main components of the new release include: Linux kernel 2.6.27, KDE 3.5.9 desktop environment, OpenOffice.org 3.0 office suite, Mozilla Firefox 3.0 web browser, The GIMP 2.6 image manipulation program, WINE 1.0 - a translation layer for running Windows applications on Linux, support for Portuguese and English languages, newly added OpenLDAP. Litrix Linux is a Gentoo-based desktop Linux live DVD featuring a graphical configuration utility, and a choice between a KDE 3.5 and a GNOME 2.22 desktop. The first release candidate for version 8.5 was released a few days ago: "Litrix Linux 8.5 Release candidate 1. The most important release of the year comes with many changes since the Litrix 7 series. Litrix Linux uses the latest packages from Gentoo's official repository; if you have any difficulties with the system, you can consult the Gentoo documentation as Litrix Linux is 100% compatible with Gentoo. The main features of this release: KDE 3.5.9, Firefox 2.0.0.14, GNOME 2.22.0 as an alternative desktop, win32codecs, WINE 0.9.61. A new stable version of Litrix Linux, a Brazilian desktop distribution based on Gentoo Linux, has been released. According to the brief release announcement (in Portuguese) on the distribution's web site, Litrix 7.12 uses Linux kernel 2.6.22 and includes KDE 3.5.8 desktop, OpenOffice.org 2.3.0 office suite (called BrOffice in Brazil), GCC 4.1.2 compiler suite, Picasa image viewer, XSane scanner frontend, NVIDIA 100.14.19 proprietary graphics driver, and native support for symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) systems. The distribution is optimised for i586 processors (Intel Pentium III and newer). Litrix Linux 7.12 comes in the form of an installable live DVD, which can be downloaded from here: litrix-7.12.zip (975MB, MD5).

Litrix Linux is a Brazilian live CD based on Gentoo Linux. After several months of development, the stable version 7.4 was released over the weekend. Highlights: support for writing to NTFS partitions; support for wireless networking; compiled for the i686 architectures; pre-installed NVIDIA drivers; support for 3D desktop features with Beryl; support for battery control on notebooks; K3B for CD and DVD burning. Litrix Linux 7.4 is built on kernel 2.6.19 and includes X.Org 7.1, KDE 3.5.6, Firefox 2.0.0.3, Thunderbird 1.5.0.10 and other popular open source software applications. Litrix Linux, a Gentoo-based distribution made in Brazil, has entered a testing stage towards a new release, version 7.2: According to the release announcement (in Portuguese), Litrix Linux 7.2 includes several new applications and features, such as: NdisWrapper for wireless networking; support for USB, SATA and PATA drives; improved power management for notebooks; SMP kernel; full NTFS read and write support with ntfs-3g; GCC 4.1; i686 optimisation with support for MMX, 3DNow! and SSE, NVIDIA graphics driver 1.0-9746; QTParted as a partitioning option during system installation; Flash Player 9. Litrix Linux 6.10 has been released. Litrix is a Brazilian distribution and live CD based on Gentoo Linux, with a custom control panel and complete localisation into Brazilian Portuguese. Some of the new features and changes since version 6.4 include: new configuration panel; improvement in the installation program; new interface for configuring ADSL connections; added Limeware as a P2P application; new boot menu entry Memtest, a memory diagnostic utility; new visual appearance; improved security with root no longer the default user; addition of WINE for executing Windows applications under Linux. The Litrix project, which develops a Linux live CD based on Gentoo Linux, has released Litrix Linux 6.4. This is a start of a new series based on Gentoo 2006 and developed during the past seven months. The new release includes support for MMX and 3DNow!, offering a major performance boost to multimedia applications. This is further enhanced by the addition of new KDE-based multimedia applications, such as amaroK with its excellent archive organising abilities and intuitive playlist features, and Kaffeine, which offers playback of both audio and video files. Litrix 3.0 has been released. Unlike the distribution's previous releases, which were based on Slackware, the latest release is based on Gentoo Linux. This brings the power of Portage to Litrix, together with easy installation of software, better language support, excellent documentation, and a possibility to re-master the live CD with a simple script. To celebrate the first anniversary of its existence, the developers of Brazil's Litrix Linux have released an English language edition of their Slackware-based live CD. According to the release announcement, this release is roughly equivalent to version 2.1, except for upgrades to the Linux kernel (2.6.10) and OpenOffice.org (1.1.4). Litrix Linux can be installed on hard disk with the help of a text-based installer and additional Slackware packages can be added with slackpkg.
