Jack Radigan has announced the availability of an updated build of Centrych, an Ubuntu-based distribution featuring a customised Xfce desktop environment: "12.04.3 released. This release upgrades the desktop to Xfce 4.10.2+ and includes the 4.11 versions of xfwm4 and xfce4-session. The Centrych desktop profile gets a customized notification theme, and both desktop profiles now use whiskermenu. The GNOME and KDE services are no longer started by default, which provides additional RAM savings and shortens login time. Also present is the most recent version of LibreOffice, 4.1.3. The current stable release of open-vm-tools is included and has been modified to build properly under all LTS supported kernels - 3.2, 3.5, 3.8, and the soon to be released 3.11. Finally, GRUB 2 has been updated to 2.00-19 and modified to select the most appropriate kernel when multiple kernels are installed for a given version." Here is the brief release announcement. Jack Radigan has announced the release of Centrych OS 12.04.2. Centrych OS is a desktop Linux distribution based on Ubuntu's latest LTS release (version 12.04 released in April 2014), but it provides more recent versions of many applications. It uses a customised Xfce desktop. From the release announcement: "These images are geared for users who prefer the most recent versions of applications and want to receive both Ubuntu and Centrych updates as they become available. The application versions included with these discs, which are also available in the updates repository, are: LibreOffice 4.0.6 - this is the final update of the 4.0 release; GIMP 2.8.6 - this version is a backport of the release included with 'Saucy'; Clementine 1.2.0 - this is the most recent upstream release; Linux kernel 3.2.0-55 - the current Ubuntu updates version. Exe GNU/Linux was a Debian-based desktop Linux distribution, it transitioned to using a Devuan base in 2017. Its primary goal is to provide a Debian variant that ships with a slightly re-themed Trinity desktop environment (a fork of KDE 3), as well as several useful scripts and utilities. It offers LXDE as an alternative desktop. It uses the official Devuan repositories, as well as the Trinity mirror for updating the desktop environment. The project strives to ship free software only and provides a collection of system rescue tools.
