The project has published Nobara 38 which includes a number of fixes for Davinci Resolve, Payday 2, GStreamer codecs and improves support for XBox controllers. "Nobara 38 released. New to Nobara: Davinci Resolve workaround will detect if Davinci Resolve installer has been run from terminal and, after installation, will prompt for user to run a wizard to perform additional actions; payday 2 workaround will detect if the native Linux version of payday 2 is run and, if so, will use the zink driver to run it, as the OpenGL implementation is currently broken and the native version no longer receives official support; udev rules - rule added so that the 'Xbox 360' controller devices are forced to use the Xpad driver - this allows devices such as the gpd win max 2 and gpd win 4 to retain controller support while still also allowing the optional xone/xpadneo driver to be installed when users need wireless dongle and/or better bluetooth support for XBox one controllers." Voyager Live is a project which offers Debian- and Ubuntu-based flavours of a desktop distribution. The project has announced the release of Voyager Live 12, which is based on Debian 12 "Bookworm". The new version focuses on improving the availability of firmware for fresh installs. "With numerous Themes and Wallpapers and essential software and many other new features to discover like Scrcpy to have your smartphone screen on your PC. The installer on Debian has received various enhancements which have resulted in better hardware support and exciting new features. Take, for example, improved handling of proprietary (non-free) firmware for hardware, which now makes it easier to load these firmwares from the installer. This was made possible through the inclusion of Debian APT 2.6 which allows for better handling of non-free firmware on Debian. So non-free firmware binaries will now be enabled by default when it is verified that they are needed. These changes will allow better support for different hardware running on non-free firmware, especially GPUs and Wi-Fi adapters." The Debian project has announced the release of Debian 12 "Bookworm", a new stable version which will receive five years of security updates. The new version shifts the way the project handles non-free firmware in an attempt to make Debian more compatible with a range of consumer hardware. "Bookworm will be supported for the next 5 years thanks to the combined work of the Debian Security team and the Debian Long Term Support team. Following the 2022 General Resolution about non-free firmware, we have introduced a new archive area making it possible to separate non-free firmware from the other non-free packages: non-free-firmware. Most non-free firmware packages have been moved from non-free to non-free-firmware. This separation makes it possible to build a variety of official installation images. Debian 12 Bookworm ships with several desktop environments, such as: GNOME 43, KDE Plasma 5.27, LXDE 11, LXQt 1.2.0, MATE 1.26, Xfce 4.18. This release contains over 11,089 new packages for a total count of 64,419 packages, while over 6,296 packages have been removed as obsolete."
