Sylvie Migneault just announced a new version of AliXe "Standard" edition, which is essentially a French edition of the popular SLAX live CD customised for use in French-speaking regions of Canada. The new version is based on the recently released SLAX 5.1.7b KillBill Edition, including the Linux kernel 2.6.16.22 and KDE desktop 3.5.3. Koffice productivity suite has been upgraded to version 1.5.2. It also supports the two most commonly used keyboard layouts in Quebec - "cf" and "multilingue". Version 12.8 of aLinux, a distribution formerly known as Peanut Linux, has been released. The changes in this release are as follows: The API was changed by updating to glibc 2.4 and GCC 4.1.1. Other updates include KDE 3.5.3 and KOffice 1.5.2. Xorg was removed and replaced with XFree86 4.6.0. The Linux kernel version is 2.6.17 with IVTV. Puppy Linux version 2.02 is released, the greatest news with which is Puppy now has full NTFS write support, using the ntfs-3g driver: "Full read and write support for NTFS partitions. 64 Studio is a Linux distribution with a collection of software for digital content creation on x86_64 hardware. It is based on the pure 64 port of Debian GNU/Linux, but with a specialised package selection and lots of other customisations. 64 Studio 0.9.0 is developed as a sort of beta release of version 1.0: "This will install Debian with X.org, the Gnome 2.14 desktop, Linux kernel 2.6.17 with realtime preemption patches and a selection of creative applications. Warren Woodford has announced the availability of SimplyMEPIS 6.0, Release Candidate 3. What's new? "The display layout of the 'settings' kioslave has been tweaked in response to tester feedback. 'Setting' are system configuration utilities. It's hoped the new layout will be easier to navigate. The RT2400 and RT2500 wireless tools have been added to settings. Khotkeys now works with settings in KDE 3.5.3.
