I’ve been using the Vipnix LiveCD for my system recovery and forensic work, and it has easily earned a permanent spot on my flash drive. This distro is incredibly fast and efficient. Because it runs entirely from RAM, the performance is flawless.What I love most is how it bridges classic Linux control with modern utility. It combines a lightweight LXQt desktop with an OpenRC init system, making it boot up in seconds. Getting into the GUI is as simple as typing startx at the console. Having full access to Gentoo's Portage package manager on a live image is a game-changer for me, and it handles container tools beautifully.While the official website can sometimes be tricky to access due to regional compliance stuff, grabbing the latest ISO from their GitHub or SourceForge is seamless. For anyone who loves the optimization of Gentoo or just needs a rock-solid, ultra-fast rescue environment, Vipnix is an absolute masterpiece. 10/10.

I was very excited to give Vipnix a try, and it didn't disappoint. Key features:
1) LXQT desktop.
2) Xlibre window server
2) init that's not Systemd
The distribution seems to mainly be geared for programmers, and features programs like Vim in addition to having other basic software.
I didn't notice an option for installing the operating system to disk. I'm just getting acquainted with Gentoo based distros; I hope Porthole and Himerge work with the distro (once I figure out how to install this distro to disk!).
So far I've tried the Vipnix live CD on two sytems: 1) one very old Panasonic Toughbook CF-19 that runs on 4GB of RAM and has a Core2Duo U9300 processor (with a Passmark score of less than 500), an 2) a more modern system featuring an AMD 4800U processor (with a Passmark score of over 15,000). It ran well on both systems and I particularly liked the speed that it ran on the old Toughbook given its low powered processor and graphics. (Note: I was also impressed that the touch pen worked on the Toughbook's touchscreen equal to or better than any distro I have tried on that unit to date.)
There's very few running distros out there (Vipnix never crashed on me) featuring Xlibre, and moreover this distro is free from Systemd. It's a technological achievement, and hopefully there will be more features to come as the distro matures.
