The first time I used Sabayon, it was fairly good.
The last time I used it, there was no good access to Software.

This is so much more than an easy way into Gentoo. Yes, it takes longer to run updates than most Debian-based distros, but it is also extremely tolerant of stopping the updates and picking up where it left off. Everything works just dandy. The textual version of the updates is bloody hard to read, with a small Courier font in different colors on a black background, but at least you can see it's really working. There are cute little reminders and lighthearted comments throughout. I had very little trouble installing my VPN using Wireguard, and that was the biggest problem I had. I've been running it for about 2 weeks now, and have yet to find an issue other than noted. Sabayon says it is a beginners' way into Gentoo, I think it's much more than that.

is very easy to install and use, and very powerfull.
Is fully different whern compared with other Linux Distros.

IMHO, Sabayon is the best binary not source distribution (I use a two PCs which are about 2008, one is a laptop). But it's possible using Portage too, though it needs having a not basic knowledges.

Was my everyday OS for work for many years, before I switched back to OSX. Fast, efficient, trustworthy, with a supreme package manager and terminal configuration.

Though Sabayon is based on Gentoo, Sabayon doesn't have Gentoo's merits.
Sabayon is a binary distribution. You can't "choice" fundamental programs and USE flags on Sabayon.
When you use Gentoo's portage system and emerge like Gentoo, your system will be messed.
Then I gave up.
I recommend Arch instead of Sabayon. Or if you want to use a source-based distribution, use Gentoo (or Funtoo).

9 months with sabayon-weekly installed and no issues so far. I'm very pleased with the KDE Plasma desktop version, and the default packages that were included for the most part. Package management is the most unique part of sabayon, but I see many good aspects of it. (It's actually version 19.05 as of yesterday, btw).

After several tries in the past I gave Sabayon daily another try.
Everything worked right away, all the packages I needed were there, eid-mw for Belgian administration I had to compile but this was easy. To get Pinta I installed community repo also with no problems. Boot time was extremely long but this was solved after installing "haveged" and enabling it. All is looking good and desktop is quite responsive, I think I will keep Sabayon as my main distro for the time being.

Being use to having root, I install root-Dolphin.desktop for root. The packages are fairly up to date and the updates took no longer than 10 min to finish. The exec line on the .desktop is pkexec env DISPLAY=$DISPLAY XAUTHORITY=$XAUTHORITY KDE_SESSION_VERSION=5 KDE_FULL_SESSION=true dolphin /. Sabayon is a par for Manjaro Linux without the update errors, I had to repair lately on it.

Just installed the "Daily builds" version of the LXQt of Sabayon, and it works great, the updates were quick and didn't take long at all. Remember to install the "Daily Builds of Sabayon because the regular versions are old and have a ton of updates, and will take a long time.

Are you kidding me? 866 updates! Half of them fail and it keeps prompting you to install the ones that failed. Once you start the process it prompts you to "go make some coffee".
Coffee? You better order a pizza and a 6 pack of your favorite beverage because this will take all day. I'm still installing the updates and I started 5 hours ago.
On the Pro side, it was quick to install and the Xfce UI is gorgeous and very responsive.

Pros:
1. Nice looking distro.
2. Good menu system (at least in XFCE).
Cons:
1. Downloaded iso was way out-of-date based on the number of updates needed. If you want to gain new users, keep your iso up-to-date.
2. Updating is hit-and-miss. I was unable to update everything in one update.
3. When updating, there are quite a few license agreements requiring review and acceptance.
4. Was never able to get through even one update successfully. After two attempts, I gave up.
Overall impression: There are many better distros out there.

Been using 5 years +. Great rolling release distribution which is normally at the leading edge of releases. This is Gentoo without any pain though you can drop in Gentoo builds if needed. On rare occasions i compile from source when an application is not in the repos or the required version.

Molto soddisfatto.

A frustrating experience for me every time I've tried it over the years. It may set up nicely initially, but it seems to update itself into oblivion eventually. Maybe that's gotten better recently, but I wouldn't know due to another issue, namely that it didn't do well with a changed video card requiring legacy nvidia drivers.
It's great that Sabayon installs the latest nvidia driver "out of the box", but downgrading (or even attempting to use the website-provided .run file version as a last resort) proved ridiculously difficult, not to mention virtually undocumented on what some say is a great wiki. Sabayon's own nvidia-340 didn't work, nor did trying to use nouveau. When attempting to use the nvidia .run file, I had to not only download the gigantic kernel source package, but also download and reinstall/reconfigure gcc (a "known issue" since 2013). It still didn't work! Into the dustbin...
I love Gentoo (using it as I type), and Calculate's a winner, but boy do I hate Sabayon...

Amazing distro, beautiful terminal!
very very fast, actually is fastest than arch, debian and anything else you may try!
The only cons i find is that there is no graphical tool to install and manager drivers like we see on manjaro!
And kde version is kinda buggy if you ask me, but its freaking good!@

I have used many distros in the past, but i have to say that the latest weekly build for KDE is pristine, well polished and if you do what the documentation says you get a very smooth operating system. I also use High Sierra and Sabayan is snappier, faster and looks so professional for a free OS. Speed up your repos first, follow the excellent directions from the wiki and the update is painless and was quick. So far so good, good job people at Sabayan!!

Sabayon is rock solid, very good wiki, I have not ever had to search the internet for a solution to a problem. It also automatically install my drivers for my video card, Few problems I encounter was solved in the next release. If they would let you use more than ext4 and btrfs, when installing, it would be great

Although this is a large ISO, once it's installed it runs quickly. The Gnome version comes with a really good set of themes, which isn't a make/break issue, but considering how hard it is to find themes that aren't broken in some way, it's good to have. Had no problem with my Nvidia card, which is rare. The killer feature, though, is having two package managers that can (carefully) interact, being Entropy, the binary installer based on Gentoo-built packages, and Portage, the source-based manager from Gentoo.
Sabayon is more stable than it was years ago, which for a rolling-release is reassuring, and the expertly-written wiki has got some great fixes for common problems.
The built-in repo is quite small, but you have access to that + Gentoo + overlays; you can pretty much run what you like.

This Distro really runs "out of the box" for me. They all say that but this one really does.
The system is setup ootb exactly as I did manually before I discovered version 10. The only thing I killed was Magneto.
Over the years some updates did break my system (for example silly things like suddenly switching to sddm) some recoveries took me days - you don't want auto-updates until you have your hands free. Yep, that is the design of rolling release. Equo is great, no need for graphics.
My "desktop/server" is staying on suse Leap (where there is a good balance between stable and bleeding edge), but Sabayon is always great for the Laptop.

Perfect Distro for me. Easy to install, fast, user friendly, and Rolling. Rigo is a great package manager, and quick for installing practically every application you can think of.
Magneto update notifier isn't very reliable for me though, and that would probably be my only con. Using the terminal quickly installs updates.
I installed the XFCE version, but for the most part, I use i3, and it's perfect.

Love it....finally a snappy and fast OS!!!
I have this OS installed on several older laptops and newer desktops and they for sure have come alive....a true pleasure to work with.
There are some quirks but I have found quirks in every distribution so far, even the big ones like Ubuntu Mate, Fedora's Gnome and Mate, CentOS, I guess everybody has different ways to do things.
Some things are quite different like printer installation or maneuvering around in CAJA but nothing I can't fix or get used to it.
Once again....love the speed.
Look forward to the future with Sabayon-Mate.

Whilst quite usable after installation, Sabayon ist lacking in refinement. Both, KDE and Mate, which I tried, had virtually no prinrter drivers incorporated. HP had 10 printers listed and Epson 2 - 9pin and 24pin. How many people have a 9 pin Epson today? They died out and disappeared, when the dinosaurs disappeared. No Gnome-commander or double commander present or available, only second rate two-panel file managers like tux-commander. No scanner like "simple scan", no disk-utility, no burner and no unetbootin, no useful calendar etc. etc.
For an average Linux user like me, who doesn't know command line stuff it'll be quite a task to compile a usable working system. I couldn't hook up my printer for example. There are better distros out there, without wanting to knock Sabayon.
Once they realize the basics, Sabayon might be a good distro......

Besides of the extremely slow (about 2 - 4 hours on decent machine) initial upgrading process, this is a fresh air in Linux world for me.
Friendly, even funny info comments and overall feeling of stability bring some joy from the very beginning.
Thankfully, the first steps are automated now not like before when you had to be the Gentoo expert to have things work for you.
