Once you find the way to change the Russian language to English - Runtu is a breeze. It took me a while to figure out to nudge the highlite bar down 1 notch or 2 and then to press F2 to get there. But then - what a wonderful OS you have in front of you!
All important programs are there, Office, screenshooter, Firefox, Thunar, VLC etc, only I had to install - from the included Synaptic program manager - the "lightning" extension for "Thunderbird" in order to have a calendar. I also installed quite a few other tools and games such as "Double Commander", "Gnome Commander", "Gnome Disk Utility" and HP Toolbox to name a few.
The system took them all without blinking an eye-lid. Although I have a German keyboard with no dead keys the system gave me no trouble. I installed the system onto a 32 gig stick (USB III) and I found it to be very fast !!
Runtu XFCE is really an improved version of Xubuntu - and a good one at that. I would recommend it highly !!
Excellent distribution, there are 2 versions, currently
-Runtu XFCE 18.04
-Runtu LITE 18.04.1 (LXDE)
Nice looking, fast, polished and minimal. Both verisions are on just 600-800 Mb iso (assembled with debootstrap) have all the necessary software like the latest Libreoffice 6, multimedia applications, Firefox 62, Gimp 2.10 and anything else a normal user would wish for. Great, simply great - an example of how good Ubuntu can be if taken closer attention by able and motivated devs perfecting the base given. English and Russian both supported!
My rating relates to Openbox/ LXDE version Runtu Lite 18.04.1:
Amazing distro... better than old Lubuntu before switching to LXQt.It is very fast, with nice themes preinstalled, no bloat, but all essentials there - it runs at some 260 Mb ram on my older i5-2Gen HP. And the ISO download is amazing ~600Mb.
P.S. I was actually looking for Runtu's standard XFCE version, but as it is still at 16.04.3 version (but same amazing (~600Mb iso (incl. LO, VLC, FF), ~330Mb ram, themes) I downloaded Lite LXDE version instead. Meanwhile waiting for new XFCE 18.04 but honestly, Lite is amazing as well. Recommend both.
When booting the Live USB in UEFI mode you get 2 choices Russian or English.
Works great, fast. But of course if you try to install it will be in EFI mode
and that is a problem if you have any other systems running in BIOS mode.
Reboot into BIOS mode and the Grub is in Russian, as is Runtu.
Not a problem since everything is in the same place as it is in XUBUNTU.
Once in install, change the language and all is good.
Except even though it saw my WiFi adapter and connected it would not let me pick
Install Updates during Installation.
After install it had a bit of a problem with my second display.
Other than that, this is XUBUNTU, no more, no less.
I'll leave it and play with it a bit. Like any XFCE it is extremely fast.
Give it a try, just because.
