I’ve been testing the new version of openKylin and I can honestly say it is pretty great. What impressed me the most is the UKUI desktop environment, which is exceptionally well-polished and beautiful. After spending so much time with mainstream GNOME and KDE distributions, this feels like a really pleasant and fresh variety. During my entire time using it, the system ran perfectly and I didn’t notice any bugs, freezes, or unexpected crashes at all. My only real critique is that the system is immutable, which would definitely restrict power users who like to tinker with system files. On the plus side, that is exactly what makes it so rock-solid and stable for daily use. I also noticed that some default components, like the stock browser, come with an older version and lack updates. However, it's not a dealbreaker because you can easily install fresh, up-to-date versions of apps directly from their software store.
