I really love the idea havin a linux nearby which aims to manage Android devices without the hassle. Yes on Win$ you have a LOT more issues but even on Linux this is not just plug&play always!! you have udev rules you might need and so on.. so well yea not that a PITA then windows but still..
pros:
- perfect for its specific use case (managing / communicating with Android devices)
- modern distro (Manjaro)
- comes with a lot of ready-to-use applications for Android management
- runs in a VM (KVM works but VirtualBox is highly recommended and works flawlessly)
- active development (ofc with gaps which is normal for single dev projects...)
- support by the developer over XDA, Telegram or Matrix chat
- you can actually give others support by the included Teamviewer :) really love that one which makes things easier for me
cons:
- installation of FWUL itself can be a problem for some. I used the recommended tool "etcher" to flash which worked for me but I saw users who used other tools as well
- XFCE is not that eye candy (configured) while it looks familiar enough for the main target group of users (those using Win$)
- persistent mode has been removed since v3.2 so you need to re-configure stuff on every boot (e.g. wifi pw etc). v4 will have an installer again but if you want to go with v3 you have to live with that or using an older release like v3.1 (which has other issues though)
My recommendation: If you can live with the non-persistent mode v3.2 is a stable and perfect choice imho. But for me the upcoming v4 is stable enough (its in RC phase currently.. since a while though..) and it has a better look & feel and a kind of persistent mode but better: you can install it on disk finally - or on an USB stick.
hope this project won't die ever lol.. and maybe that above helps you to get an idea of it but as always: testing on your own is the only way to be sure ;))
