Accessible-Coconut is an excellent operating system:
It uses Ubuntu as an intuitive and stable base, with a clean MATE desktop as its environment. Trying to find and configure the screen-reader in other systems (as a newer user) was nearly impossible, and this OS has it on at launch. It also comes with an impressive spread of accessibility options like a print-to-text app as well as Braille keyboard configuration.
Also, importantly, it downloads via a very simple GUI. It's in plain speech and is easily understood (which is leagues better than more well-known OSs).
Also also, the entire ISO is less than 3GiB which is my personal standard. Leaves more room for funny JPEGs.
In my opinion, this distribution is really amazing. It has many useful functions and many useful applications installed. It also has facilities for people with disabilities. I personally recommend checking out this distribution not only for potential beginners of this system, but also for more advanced Linux users. I didn't expect it to be a distribution based on Ubuntu, which would be good. The MATE desktop itself is very well configured and refined. The system itself (even though it is Ubuntu) has not caused me any major problems so far. It is very simple to use. I can operate it and it has many useful graphic tools. I personally highly recommend this distribution.
This is probably the best distro for the visually impaired. This is one of the oldest distributions and has been consistently maintained for about 10 years.
The distro provides a range of utilities and applications for visually impaired users. These include a screen-reader, an on-screen keyboard, a magnifier app, and a Braille writer. It also offers preset profiles for different use cases, such as screen reader with speech, Braille, high contrast, minor motor difficulties, and on-screen keyboard.
