Comparing package versions between two distributions
Often times it is useful to be able to compare the versions of different packages
between two distributions. This can let us know which distribution is more up to
date, or if a feature has been introduced into one distribution but not the other.
This page enables us to quickly perform a side-by-side comparison of the packages
available in two different distributions, or in two different versions of the
same distribution. In this way we can not only compare two competing projects,
but also track the progress of distributions as they adopt newer versions of
software.
Please select two distributions and then a specific version of each distribution to compare.
Complete summaries of the ALT Linux and Fedora projects are available.
Note: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped
with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication
about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The
apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The
KDE desktop is represented by the "kde-workspace" and "plasma-desktop" packages and the
Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
A complete package list for further comparison is available.
