Erkan Işik has announced the release of Pisi Linux 2.4, code name "Karagül", the latest stable version from the project that builds an independently-developed Linux distribution for the desktop. It uses the Pisi package management tool, also developed in-house. The new version updates the KDE Plasma desktop to version 6.2 and the Linux kernel to version 6.6.56. "Inspired by the rare flowers of Anatolia, Pisi GNU/Linux delivers the 2.4 version 'Karagül' to its users. This version is designed to offer users a modern, fast and flexible experience. Pisi GNU/Linux 2.4 'Karagül' is updated with the latest version of the KDE desktop environment, KDE Plasma 6. This version promises its users a more contemporary, rich and efficient desktop experience by bringing together the Wayland graphics platform and the Qt6 application framework. Pisi Linux is a GNU/Linux distribution based on the old Pardus Linux with its unique PiSi package management system. It's an operating system for desktop computer with software for listening to music, browsing the Internet and creating documents. Pisi Linux is built from scratch on a stable base, but many core user applications, such as the Firefox web browser or the VLC media player, are kept constantly up to date. To increase the distribution's user friendliness, Flash player and many multimedia codecs are installed and pre-configured for immediate use.

The second beta release of the upcoming Pisi Linux 2.0, a new version of the desktop Linux distribution forked from the original Pardus Linux, is now ready for testing: "The new 2.0 beta 2 is now available. What is waiting for you in this version? Many programs, such as Pisi, Çomar and Kaptan have been updated; the Pisi programs have been re-written in Python 3 and PyQt 5, they are more stable; a new and updated theme with a nice look; a new installer - Calamares; KDE Plasma 5; Qt 4, KDE 4 and older technologies have been abandoned altogether, Pisi Linux is now more stable, safer, faster and more elegant. Information about the packages: KDE Plasma 5.7.2, KDE Frameworks 5.24.0, Linux kernel 4.7.2, LibreOffice 5.2.0, Chromium 52.0.2743.116, GIMP 2.8.16...." Development Release: Pisi Linux 2.0 Alpha 7 |

The Pisi Linux desktop distribution is a fork of Pardus. The Pisi Linux project has posted a new development release for people to test and submit feedback. The new release, Pisi Linux 2.0 alpha 7, features a number of significant software updates, including version 4.4.1 of the Linux kernel, KDE Plasma 5.19, Firefox 44 and LibreOffice 5.1. The English translation of the release announcement (in Turkish) reads: "Pisi Linux has continued its activities after 1.2 and with 2.0 alpha 7 we reached our test version, the initial release of this version 2.x series. This version emerged as a result of extensive studies and is strong, stable, comfortable to use, safe and very fast..." The new development version is available in Minimal and KDE editions. Stefan Gronewold has announced the launch of Pisi Linux 1.2. Pisi Linux is a modern distribution which originally forked from Pardus Linux, but which is now maintained independently. Pisi Linux uses the PiSi package manager and ships with the KDE desktop. The new release is the second update (and final release) of the 1.x series. Version 1.2 ships with a number of significant package upgrades, including a new Linux kernel, a copy of Qt 5, MATE 1.8.0 and version 4.14 of the KDE desktop environment. Currently, Pisi Linux 1.2 is available in one, desktop-oriented edition with the KDE desktop acting as the default user interface. Other major components of Pisi Linux 1.2 include Mozilla Firefox 38.0.5, LibreOffice 4.3.5, GIMP 2.8.14, Calligra 2.8.7, Clementine 1.2.3, Qt 4.8.6 and 5.4.1, glibc 2.20, Binutils 2.24 and coreutils 8.23. Pisi Linux is an independent distribution featuring a custom package manager and system installer, as well as several home-made utilities. It is also one of the few remaining Linux distributions (besides Slackware and Gentoo-based ones) that haven't switched to systemd as their default init system. The second stable release of Pisi Linux, version 1.1, was announced yesterday on the project's website: "Pisi Linux continued its activities after 1.0 and we have reached our second stable version - 1.1. This version resulted from intensive studies - it is strong, stable, comfortable to use, safe and fast. This release includes, along with many innovations, the following main packages: Linux kernel 3.17.1, KDE 4.14.2, MATE 1.8.0, Firefox 32.0.3, LibreOffice 4.3.2, GIMP 2.8.10, Calligra 2.8.5, Clementine 1.2.3, Qt 4.8.6, glibc 2.20, Binutils 2.24, Coreutils 8.22."
