Armbian is a Linux distribution designed for ARM development boards. The project's latest release is Armbian 23.11 which is based on Debian 12 "Bookworm". "Key Improvements in This Release: Addressing numerous bugs for improved functionality for Banana Pi CM4. Mainline Kernel for RK3588 with experimental HDMI support. Fixed Display Managers across all desktops. Experimental EDK2/UEFI Support for RK3588 boards. Introducing Ubuntu Mantic and Debian Trixie as daily image builds. Enhancing quality control through automated tests. Highlights of completed actions: closed projects - In this version, we've successfully closed several projects, including switching the default login manager, enabling artifacts creation at pull request, and adding support for Hikey 960. Additionally, we've updated the edge kernel to v6.6 and introduced new Armbian wallpapers. The support for various boards like NanoPi R6S/R6C, TI SK-TDA4VM, Xiaomi-elish, and more has been added, enhancing the range of compatible devices." The Armbian team has announced the release of Armbian 24.11.1, the updated build of the project's Debian and Ubuntu-based Linux distribution designed primarily for ARM development boards. The new release updates the Linux kernel to version 6.6.60 and brings other significant improvements: "We are thrilled to announce Armbian release 24.11.1, packed with significant updates across our entire ecosystem. These updates are aimed at enhancing functionality, expanding hardware support and refining the user experience for both developers and everyday SBC users. Core system updates: the updated build system introduces new tools for faster builds and seamless integration; optimized compilation workflows and prebuilt configurations make deploying custom firmware easier and more efficient, especially for developers focusing on specialized projects; Armbian Config Next Generation has seen improvements in hardware control, streamlined service management and automated configuration scripting...." Armbian is a Linux distribution designed for ARM development boards. The project has announced an updated build which carries the version number 24.5.1: "Reproducible Armbian OS and Armbian build framework are tightly connected. Framework can build custom Debian or custom Ubuntu. Armbian Ubuntu is made from LTS or latest packages and is cleaned from all Canonical packaging including snapd. By default, we provide the latest critical packages also in the LTS package base. Armbian Jammy and Noble comes with highly optimized, specially built for each hardware platform, on top of mainline kernel 6.6.y or from SoC vendors, ZFS 2.2.4 and always the latest deb packaged Chromium, packed as .deb, comes with 3D and video acceleration where possible, VS Code, Thunderbird, Firefox, preinstalled Linux Userspace x86 and x86_64 Emulator on aarch64 hardware and several others. Armbian provides cleaned, improved, but stays close to the standard Debian and Ubuntu experience. To keep 100% compatibility, we tend to keep things that work well as they are. It supports a large range of popular armhf, aarch64 and riscv64 devices: "We're excited to announce the latest Armbian release, 24.2, code name 'Kereru'. This update comes with a plethora of changes, making the Armbian experience even better. In recent developments, we're proud to announce the completion of several projects geared towards refining the Armbian experience. Notably, we've resolved DNS resolution issues associated with Debian 'Bookworm', ensuring smoother connectivity for users. Furthermore, our team has optimized the performance of HDMI consoles on Khadas VIM1S and VIM4 devices, alleviating previous sluggishness." The Armbian team has announced the release of Armbian 23.08, a Debian-based Linux distribution designed primarily for ARM development boards, supporting a large range of popular armhf, aarch64, and riscv64 devices: "We are very pleased to announce the public availability of Armbian OS 23.08, the Linux distribution, and 23.08 package set, under the codename 'Colobus'. After the complete rework of our build framework, we proceeded with refreshing repository management and automation processes. We have significantly stabilized both our framework and many hardware platforms we are taking care of. Armbian 23.02 is the latest release from a project providing a lightweight Linux distribution optimised for custom ARM, RISC-V or Intel hardware, with fully-featured Xfce, GNOME or Cinnamon-based desktop. This version upgrades the Linux kernel to the long-term supported version 6.1: "Armbian 23.02 'Quoll' is now available. It features a new LTS kernel based on Linux 6.1.y (where possible), with builds around 'Bullseye' and 'Jammy', as well as Debian 'Bookworm' and Ubuntu 'Lunar' for developers. Armbian OS remains one of the most popular operating systems on the new Rockchip RK3588 platform, featuring official support for Radxa Rock 5 and Orange Pi 5. This will be the last release before we switch to the new build framework, which has been completely rewritten. The new build framework has an advanced but simple-to-use logging system and we no longer use external compilers and the caching system has been reworked to maximize space and computing resources.
