The Murena project provides open source images for common smartphones, open source cloud-based storage, calendar, and backup solutions, and sells phones with /e/OS pre-installed. The project's latest release is for version 1.13 which includes a number of fixes and minor improvements. "We are proud to deliver the /e/OS 1.13. Enjoy all the new features and improvements it embeds! We embedded some improvements! App lounge - Categories allows to discover way more apps. If users have to use a Google account, they're advised to use a Google account without any important data. Account added via Calendar can be used within a couple of minute. Translations - Gallery, Music, Advanced Privacy. Software updates - We merged bug fixes and security updates from LineageOS 19.1 source code. FP4 Firmware - Bumped firmware with the May update (FP4.SP29.B.069.20230510).Third-Party App support: we addressed some issues with in-app Maps display; we resolved an issue with a large number of markers on the map; we addressed some issues about network location." Mobile OS Release: Murena 3.2 |

The Murena team have announced a new version of its /e/OS operating system for mobile devices. The new 3.2 version features notifications when apps are leaking data and customization options for the side button on the Fairphone 6. There are also improvements to the project's software centre: "In Advanced Privacy, users are now informed in real time when apps attempt to leak data, with simple controls to manage notifications. The App Lounge has also been refined: app sizes from F-Droid are now displayed, and common apps are shown based on region for a better browsing experience. For Fairphone (Gen.6) users, /e/OS 3.2 introduces customization of the side button, allowing you to assign your preferred actions. While the dedicated Moments feature from Android is not yet available, this new customization gives you more flexibility in how you use the button. A major improvement has been implemented to the Fairphone (Gen.6). Fairphone Camera app is now available on /e/OS, enjoy an even better camera experience on your phone." Mobile OS Release: Murena 3.1.1 |

The Murena team have announced an update to the project's mobile /e/OS platform. The new version, 3.1.1, focuses on bug fixes and minor improvements to the user experience. "Users of the new Fairphone (Gen. 6) will especially benefit, with key features like Mobile Data and VoLTE now enabled by default. The /e/OS Camera has also been enhanced to support 50 MP photos, and installation of /e/OS is now fully supported via the /e/OS Installer. Live Caption becomes more user-friendly as caption text can now be repositioned for better readability and accessibility. For families using /e/OS, Parental Control includes a crucial update. A clear warning now reminds parents to save the security code they define, as there's no way to recover it if forgotten. Third-party app compatibility has been improved on several devices, including the Fairphone 3, 4, 5 and the new Gen. 6. This ensures a smoother and more consistent app experience across these models. Good news for CMF Phone 1 users - /e/OS 3.1.1 brings key fixes that improve your daily experience. USB-C wired audio now works properly, switching between front and back cameras is smooth again, and Wi-Fi calling with sim.de is fully functional." Mobile OS Release: Murena 3.0 |

The Murena organization has announced a new release of their mobile operating system, /e/OS, along with a series of new features. "/e/OS's Advanced Privacy feature now offers users a comprehensive overview of how their data is handled. New Weekly Reports provide detailed insights into invasive apps, aggressive trackers, and an overall Privacy Score. Users can even share these reports on social media to raise awareness. In addition, users can now customize app geolocation access, distinguishing which apps see true vs. fake locations. We unveil an ultra powerful tool to protect users' data on our Murena Workspace at murena.io: a user-friendly and end-to-end encrypted Online Vault, powered by the CryptPad technology, now in beta. This feature allows users to store sensitive files with end-to-end encryption—including for real-time editing and collaboration. This new test service helps explore how ultra-strong encryption can be integrated into the Murena ecosystem with minimal impact on user experience. With Find My Device via SMS in /e/OS 3.0, users can locate their device even when they're far from it—no internet connection required. This simple yet effective feature uses standard text messages (SMS) to help users geolocate their device, securely and with ease." The Murena project has announced the release of version 2.9 of its /e/OS operating system. The new release introduces support for the Pixel 8 smartphone, makes it possible to export items from the Notes application, and a number of bugs have been fixed. "Google Pixel 8 is now available on AOSP 14 for Community builds. It's now possible to export your Notes to a .md file on your device. Mullvad DNS All has been implemented as Parental Control's default DNS and Kids DNS0 is implemented as a fallback. Location is now requested from supported Hotspot by default, so now you can be located while connected to the train's Wi-Fi for instance. LineageOS 21 latest bug fixes and security updates have been merged (list). Browser has been updaded to upstream version v134.0.6998.89. Web Calendar Manager has been updaded to upstream version v2.2.6. Web Calendar Manager no longer crashes while editing an already added entry. Icon display for PWA and open source apps has been fixed. Common apps are not visible anymore when disabled in the settings and are displayed systematically among searched results when enabled in the settings. The Murena team has announced a new version of the project's /e/OS operating system. Support for tablets has been introduced along with smoother support for QR code reading. One of the big features accompanying this release is a new on-line system installer. "We're excited to introduce our brand-new Installer for /e/OS, now in beta! Our team has been working tirelessly to make installing /e/OS on your device simpler than ever. This new Installer will replace the Easy Installer, offering you a seamless, step-by-step process to get /e/OS up and running on compatible devices. The Murena team has announced the launch of /e/OS 2.4 which introduces a number of improvements for cameras and updates to the mobile operating system's privacy features. "This release also brings a number of useful updates. The Account Manager is now updatable via the App Lounge, which itself can now auto-update for your convenience. Additionally, we've moved the browser's ad-blocking filter to GitLab, ensuring continuous protection as the previous domain was about to expire. Our browser's ad-blocker is now hosted on GitLab, and you can easily import multi-event ICS files into the calendar. Fairphone 4 and 5 users will enjoy full functionality of the default camera app, and the UX on Murena Two's privacy switch has been improved. Updates include LineageOS bug fixes, faster Fairphone 5 charging, smoother launcher transitions, and improved parental controls. The Murena project has launched version 2.2 of its smartphone operating system which blocks more app trackers and introduces parental controls. "One of the standout features in this release is the long-awaited Parental Control feature. Designed to help you protect your children online, this feature allows you to manage their device usage, ensuring a safer digital environment. Additionally, we have enhanced privacy measures by blocking 800 new trackers, ensuring better protection of your personal information. The Murena project delivers a de-Googled version of Android for smartphones which include several privacy protecting features and independent cloud services. The Murena team have released Murena 2.0 which ships with an updated version of the Bliss launcher, more capable tracker blocking, built-in QR code recognition in the camera app, and IP address hiding. "Advanced Privacy is a unique tool we have developed to prevent trackers from accessing your data while you are using third-party apps or just browsing the web. Let's have a look now at the enhanced Advanced Privacy features in /e/OS V2. Advanced Privacy lets you manage in-app trackers, IP addresses, and location. It's available as a widget and within the operating system settings. And now in a recent update, you can enjoy a better experience with Advanced Privacy with a more intuitive user interface; you'll have greater control over your privacy settings.
