Ignalum Linux
Ignalum was located in Markham, Ontario, Canada. The privately held company was founded in the year 2002 with a vision of creating a cost-effective, installation-friendly, complete Linux-based operating environment offering full Windows compatibility. Ignalum Linux was a complete, Red Hat and RPM-based operating system optimized for the i686-class processors. It contains an easy to use installation program, extensive online documentation, and a menu-driven package system. A full installation gives you the X Window System, C/C++ development environments, Perl, networking utilities, a mail server, a news server, a web server, an ftp server, the GNU Image Manipulation Program, OpenOffice Suite, Netscape Communicator, plus many more programs. Ignalum Linux can run on any P6-class and higher processors (but uses -march=i686 -O2 optimization for best performance on i686-class machines like the P3, P4, and Duron/Athlon).

Distribution Release: CentOS 10 Stream |
|
The CentOS project has announced the availability of a new version of CentOS Stream. The new 10 series branch provides a preview of what is coming up in the next release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Version 10 ships with Linux 6.12, Python 3.12, and version 47 of the GNOME desktop. "CentOS Stream defines Enterprise Linux. It is a Linux distribution built by Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) engineers, and is used as the major version branch that RHEL minor versions are created from. It has roughly a five year lifecycle and will be maintained until 2030. The exact date will be contingent on the end of the Full Support phase of RHEL 10. Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and other communities use it as a trusted base for their tailored solutions. RHEL customers can use it as a preview of what's coming soon to RHEL.... CentOS Stream 10 includes several exciting new features and enhancements. Some of the highlights include: Linux kernel 6.12; Python 3.12; Go 1.23; Rust 1.82; Valkey 7.2; GNOME 47." Distribution Release: CentOS 9 |
|
The CentOS project has published a new snapshot release, CentOS 9 Stream which acts as a middle ground between Fedora and the next version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The project's release announcement says: "Updates posted to Stream are identical to those posted to the unreleased minor version of RHEL. The aim? For CentOS Stream to be as fundamentally stable as RHEL itself. To achieve this stability, each major release of Stream starts from a stable release of Fedora Linux—In CentOS Stream 9, this begins with Fedora 34, which is the same code base from which RHEL 9 is built. As updated packages pass testing and meet standards for stability, they are pushed into CentOS Stream as well as the nightly build of RHEL. What CentOS Stream looks like now is what RHEL will look like in the near future." CentOS is available in x86_64, ARM64, and PowerPC64 flavours. At the time of writing, the release notes are not yet available. Download: CentOS-Stream-9-latest-x86_64-dvd1.iso (8,037MB, pkglist). |
