antiX, a lightweight, desktop Linux distribution featuring IceWM as the default window manager, has been upgraded to version 19.1. Although largely a bug-fix release, the new version also updates IceWM to version 1.6.3: "antiX 19.1 bug-fix/upgrade ISO images available. All new ISO images are bug-fix/upgrades of antiX 19 SysVInit series. Only for new users, no need to download if using antiX 19. antiX 19.1 is based on Debian 'Buster' and is systemd-free. As usual, we offer the following systemd-free flavours for both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures: antiX-full with four windows managers – IceWM (default), Fluxbox, JWM and herbstluftwm, plus full LibreOffice suite; antiX-base with 4 windows managers – IceWM (default), Fluxbox, JWM and herbstluftwm; antiX-core with no X window; antiX-net with no X window and just enough to get you connected (wired) and ready to build. | antiX is a fast, lightweight and easy-to-install Linux live CD distribution based on Debian's "Stable" branch for x86 compatible systems. antiX offers users the "antiX Magic" in an environment suitable for old computers. The goal of antiX is to provide a light, but fully functional and flexible free operating system for both newcomers and experienced users of Linux. It should run on most computers, ranging from 256 MB old PIII systems with pre-configured swap to the latest powerful boxes. 256 MB RAM is recommended minimum for antiX. The installer needs minimum 2.7 GB hard disk size. antiX can also be used as a fast-booting rescue CD, or run "live" on a USB stick, with or without persistent file storage.

The distribution's latest release is antiX 23.2, which primarily focuses on bug fixes and minor updates. This is the project's first version based on Debian 12: "antiX 23 'Arditi del Popolo' is a new release based on Debian 'Bookworm'. As usual, we offer completely systemd-free and elogind-free flavours for both 32-bit and 64-bit architectures. Available ISO images files with SysVInit or Runit. antiX is a fast, lightweight and easy-to-install Linux live CD distribution based on Debian's Stable branch. The project's latest release, antiX 22, substitutes a number of packages and rebuilds packages to avoid dependency on Debian's systemd package. "This is predominantly an update of our last release (antiX-21), but with a newer 4.9.0-326 kernel, latest 3 series IceWM, latest firefox-esr 102.3 (full), seamonkey 2.53.14 (base), improved localisation and fixed Deb archive keys. mps-youtube has been removed since it doesn't seem to work anymore. Sakis3G replaces modem-manager(GUI). Note: elogind, libpam-elogind and libelogind0 have also been removed. Instead we use seatd and consolekit. Many upstream core Debian packages have been rebuilt to remove a hard dependency on libsystemd0/libelogind0. These include apt, cups, dbus, gvfs, openssh, policykit-1, procps, pulseaudio, rpcbind, rsyslog, samba, sane-backends, udisks2, util-linux, webkit2gtk and xorg-server. The third beta release of antiX 19, a lightweight, desktop-oriented Linux distribution featuring the IceWM window manager, is now available for testing. This major new version is based on Debian 10: "antiX 19 beta 3 'full' and 'base' editions (64-bit and 32-bit) are available. Our third beta build of the upcoming antiX 19 release, based on Debian 'Buster' and free of systemd. The main changes since beta 2: Linux 4.9.189 kernel patched for 'swapgs mitigations' patched; qpdfview replaces Evince; a bit more polish added; various bug fixes. Known issues (reported): sisimedia driver for SiS video cards does not work; connman does not connect to sdio bluetooth controller (rtl8723bs) on Intel Compute Stick STCK1A8LFC; the presence of /etc/asound.conf causes repeated second long gaps in HDMI sound. The antiX team have published a new development snapshot of the distribution's antiX 19 branch, based on Debian 10 "Buster". The snapshot offers a new tool, called App Select, for finding installed applications and introduces new themes and icons. The antiX project has released a new development snapshot, leading up to the project's final release of antiX 17. The new release candidate includes a number of small changes and users are being asked to test a number of specific features. In particular connecting to networks, hot plugging both wired and wireless networks and Xorg configurations. "We are almost there! 32- and 64-bit ISO files of the 'full' version are available for further testing. NOTE: Wicd wireless option in F4 of live boot menu. Wicd is tuned off by default. The antiX project has released a new development snapshot of their lightweight, Debian-based distribution. The new beta snapshot, antiX 17 Beta 2, features mostly small improvements and polish over the previous testing snapshot. The new beta uses Debian 9 "Stretch" as a base. "One month on from the release of beta1, we are ready to test out beta2. Hopefully we managed to fix some of the problems identified in beta 1 such as automatic connection to Ethernet on live device and installed to hard drive. Decided to use conky-legacy and gufw-legacy versions (1. to save some space and 2. to save some RAM usage 3. They both seem more stable). Installer now prompts for keyboard set up at the beginning rather than near the end. This should work much better for those who want/need multi-language support. eudev seems to be working OK so we will ship with it rather than udev.
