Pie Box Enterprise Linux
Pie Box Enterprise Linux was a Linux distribution that was derived from the open source software made available by Red Hat, Inc. It was built from the source RPMs of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Only a small number of packages are modified in order to remove Red Hat's trademarks from relevant images and to skip the RHN registration step immediately after installation. All other packages remain unchanged from those released by Red Hat and there are no packages added or removed. This results in a product that was fully compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The updates and repository service was very similar to the up2date service offered by Red Hat, Inc. It was a subscription-based service under which errata are distributed that have been compiled from source RPM packages that have been released by Red Hat, Inc.

Distribution Release: Linux Mangaka Koe |
|
The developers of Linux Mangaka have released a new version of their Manga and Anime focused distribution. The new release, which is based on Kubuntu 14.04, features the KDE 4 desktop environment. "After the success releasing Nyu with a lot of passion, we decided to start creating Koe witch reached the final stage yesterday! Koe is based on Kubuntu 14.04 with vanilla KDE 4.13.3 core libs containing Manga drawing, viewing, Anime playback and as well subtitle programs out-of-the-box. We beg for your patience at booting, the system has no boot-logo (to look more intuitive with the KDE desktop), but positively it ships some customization to fit the way as a complete beautiful operating system made just for you! Note: We may release an update until end year with a correction at the missed installer `quit' message (it does not affect the installation) and application menu mouse hover closing. " The above information and a screen shot can be found in the release announcement. Download: linux-mangaka-koe-final.iso (2,856MB, MD5, pkglist). |

Development Release: Linux Mangaka Nyu Alpha |
|
After several dormant years, the developers of Linux Mangaka have released a new development version of their Ubuntu-based distribution. The new alpha release is based on Ubuntu 14.04 and strives to offer a responsive and customizable desktop environment. The distribution is designed with the manga and anime communities in mind. "Linux Mangaka Nyu (alpha) released. With 1.4 GB mini-DVD sized 64-bit architecture based on Ubuntu 14.04 containing ElementaryGTK features in a simple, fast boot, our main focus this time was creating an operating system to be able to run Full HD in a nettop with a beautiful and very customizable desktop. Even if the system is ready for daily use, this is still an alpha release, witch means it may not work very well in all PCs (tested so far on NVIDIA ION and Intel Atom nettops). Bug reports are welcome via email." Here is the brief release announcement. Interested alpha testers can download the live DVD image from SourceForge: linux-mangaka-nyu-alpha.iso (1,368MB, MD5, pkglist). |
