Emmanuel Appiah has announced the release of LuninuX OS 12.10, an Ubuntu-based distribution with a customised GNOME Shell desktop interface: "It has been a long long long journey but we have made progress. The task to improve already good quality does not mean stop when it's good enough, it simply means make it better and with the release of LuninuX OS 12.10 'Quite Quail', you will see how much better it has been made. Some of the major changes are Opera as the default web browser with privacy plugins, boxes for virtual machines, OpenJDK and many more. Emmanuel Appiah has announced the availability of a public beta release of LuninuX OS 12.10, an Ubuntu-based distribution with a customised GNOME Shell user interface: "I have fixed a few things with the previous release and now have a working beta 2 release. A few applications are missing but overall the build works well for daily use, the boot animation has been fixed, auto-login for live session now work with 10 seconds auto-load for the 'luninux' user, Internet connection and many drivers have been added, more stable software selection. As always the installer is in the 'Examples' folder on the desktop and the sideshow has been partially updated. Please download this release a soon as possible, I ensure you that you will love it. Development Release: LuninuX OS 12.00 Beta 2 |

The second beta release of LuninuX OS 12.00, an Ubuntu-based distribution with GNOME Shell instead of Unity, is now available for testing: "The decision to bring pure GNOME to LuninuX OS in the second release Beta has proved beneficial - you will find many improvements, such as speed, responsiveness, stability and less resource usage. The login prompt is GDM and there are three sessions, GNOME Shell, GNOME Classic, and GNOME Fallback. Many of the applications included is Firefox, Banshee, LibreOffice, Liferea, GIMP, Cairo Dock, Docky, WINE and most of the multimedia plugins. If there is a problem with the auto-login for the live mode, select a session and type 'luninux' as the user name and leave the password blank, then login." Here is the brief release announcement.
