Dimitris Papadatos has announced the release of Monomaxos 4.0, a Greek desktop-oriented distribution based on Ubuntu (and a screensaver showing magnificent images of Greece): "Monomaxos Greek Linux operating system version 4.0 (based on Ubuntu 9.04). This is the fourth release of Monomaxos localized for the Greek language that comes as a live DVD. It supports playback of every kind of multimedia file (including HD video) and any kind of Internet content out of the box and can also be used for setting up a stand alone media center (including XBMC media center). It contains OpenOffice.org 3.1 in Greek with functional spellcheck. A large variety of open source software installed in this live DVD provides solutions for all needs of the modern user." |
| Monomaxos is an Ubuntu-based distribution whose purpose is to provide a complete out-of-the-box functional Linux operating system by including browser plugins, media codecs, support for DVD playback, Java, Flash and other components. It also adds a custom desktop and menus, and a modified Wubi installer for making installation very easy. Monomaxos is compatible with Ubuntu software repositories.

This is the sixth release of Monomaxos localized in the Greek language that comes as a live DVD. It supports playback of every kind of multimedia material (including HD video) and any kind of Internet content out of the box. It can also be used for setting up a standalone media center. It contains LibreOffice 3.3 in the Greek language with enabled functional spell check. In this release a local Monomaxos repository is used; it includes software chosen by the fans of the project and all the latest ATI and NVIDIA graphic cards drivers." Pie Box Enterprise Linux
Pie Box Enterprise Linux was a Linux distribution that was derived from the open source software made available by Red Hat, Inc. It was built from the source RPMs of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Only a small number of packages are modified in order to remove Red Hat's trademarks from relevant images and to skip the RHN registration step immediately after installation. All other packages remain unchanged from those released by Red Hat and there are no packages added or removed. This results in a product that was fully compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The updates and repository service was very similar to the up2date service offered by Red Hat, Inc. It was a subscription-based service under which errata are distributed that have been compiled from source RPM packages that have been released by Red Hat, Inc.
