OviOS Linux
OviOS Linux is an independent, storage OS which combines open source technologies to provide a dedicated, performance-oriented storage system. The goal is to keep OviOS Linux a pure storage, appliance-like OS. It targets users and admins who need a stable out-of-the-box iSCSI, NFS, SMB and FTP server. The distribution features a special command line shell called "ovios shell" which strives to simplify system management.

Resulinux is a Brazilian desktop distribution based on Debian GNU/Linux. A new version 2.9, code name "Chesed", was released yesterday. From the changelog: added option to choose one of the four available desktop themes; KDE 3.5.9 with Compiz; new configuration and package installation panels; security improvements; major applications - OpenOffice.org 2.4.0, Firefox 3.0; Linux kernel 2.6.23.13 enhanced for performance; bug fixes in Kaffeine and scripts for installing the ATI and NVIDIA proprietary video drivers; new script for configuring wireless networking and miscellaneous other networking improvements. Luciano Martini has released the second beta version of Resulinux 3.0, a Brazilian desktop Linux distribution featuring the latest KDE 4 desktop. What's new? Fixed bug with GParted not starting up during system installation; fixed bug with non-functional wireless networking; system now uses NetworkManager for managing networks; applied workaround to a KDE bug that froze the system when opening some applications as root; applied workaround to permission changes to KDialog when run as root; new guide showing how to create icons on the KDE desktop; applied workaround to a bug in KMenuEdit; updated Java from 'Squeeze' repository; updated Shockwave Flash from 'Lenny' repository; fixed bug in Remastersys. Marcos Setim has announced the availability of the first test release of Resulinux 3.0, a Brazilian desktop distribution and live DVD based on Debian GNU/Linux. After some eight months of development, the distribution is ready for the initial round of public testing, despite the missing system installer which has yet to be implemented. However, several new and improved features are already available, including: TexasFlood 2.8, a powerful replacement for SysVInit with an improved boot and memory manager; a much improved KDE 4.2.0; Splashy, a new boot-splash graphic; a new configuration panel by Valter Correia; I-Easy, a utility for installing applications. Resulinux is a Debian-based, Brazilian live CD featuring the TexasFlood boot system, which dramatically shortens the operating system's boot time, and a software update utility called LiveUpdate. Version 2.5 was released yesterday. Some of the new features include the following: aMSN upgraded to version 0.97R1; jSMS upgraded to version 2.6; support for multimedia files; added libdvdcss2; added Barrage (a game), aDesklets, aMule, XArchive; boot speed improvements while booting from live CD; support for wireless networking in configuration panel; icons and splash screen updates; added TexasFlood version 2.1R4; various bug fixes.
