CAELinux
CAELinux is a live DVD Linux distribution dedicated to computer-aided engineering (CAD) and finite element analysis. Based on Ubuntu, it features a full software solution for professional 3D FE analysis from CAD geometry. It includes the Salome 3D pre/post processor, Code_Aster non-linear/multi- physics FE solver, Code-Saturne and OpenFOAM CFD solvers, Elmer multiphysics suite, GMSH, Netgen and enGrid 3D meshers, GNU Octave, Rkward, wxMaxima, Scilab, and more.

Linux XP is a Fedora-based Russian distribution with the goal of porting the Windows XP user interface to the GNOME desktop. The latest version is 2008, released earlier this week: "Linux XP Desktop 2008 is officially released. It includes many new features and modern desktop themes. There are several exclusive applications in Linux XP to simplify system administration and user data migration from Windows to Linux XP. Features: Windows-like interface; 3D desktop; advanced control panel, simple file system layout, Windows migration tool; advanced network functions; easy installation; full NTFS file system support; easy program installation; advanced security functions; support for all modern file formats..." Timofey Korolyov has announced the availability of the first release candidate for Trustverse Desktop 4.0, a Fedora-based Linux distribution (formerly known as Linux XP) with a GNOME desktop tweaked to resemble Windows XP: "We are happy to announce Trustverse Linux Desktop 4.0 Release Candidate 1. The graphical interface of the system is quite functional and comparable with Microsoft Windows. Panels organization, menu functions, special adjustments of Nautilus file manager will make your work comfortable and effective. You can turn on 3D desktop, with various graphic effects which will make your desktop unique. Management of all basic functions is accessible in the uniform control panel. Settings utilities have intuitively clear interface and many utilities have interfaces that are close to those in Windows." Linux XP is a Fedora-based, beginner-friendly desktop distribution that mimics the look and feel of Windows XP and provides extensive compatibility features with the Microsoft operating system. An updated version, now with support for English, has been released: "We just made the first international release of Linux XP Desktop!" The many new features in this release include: experimental network manager, system information dialogue, Microsoft Active Directory integration, system updates dialogue, and upgrades of several major applications.
