Distribution Review: Secure Distributions |
Network Computing has produced a comprehensive review of the main Linux distributions carrying (or at least implying) the word "secure" in their names. The article compares Guardian Digital EnGarde Secure Linux, Wirex Communications Immunix 7.0, Hewlett-Packard Co. Secure OS Software for Linux 1.0 and Trustix Secure Linux 1.5. As the icon on the left suggests, EnGarde walked away with top honours: "ESL's Guardian Digital Secure Network provides a textbook example of an ideal patching interface - automatic notification, simplified downloading and straightforward descriptions are all included. We were up to current patch levels in a matter of minutes. " If you are into secure Linux servers, this review is well worth reading.

Distribution Review: EnGarde |
LinuxLookup reviewsEnGarde Secure Server: " I am happy to see a Linux distribution that is really secure straight from the box. You can tell that a lot of thought and planning went into it. Instead of lumping a bunch of programs together and calling it a distribution, Engarde was designed to be Secure from the ground on up. It was also designed with business in mind. In other words it has a purpose. Few distributions sport a good web interface for administration like Engarde, especially as an integral part of the system. Overall I am happy with the way it performs." Read the review to find out why the author has given EnGarde Secure Linux 20 out 20 possible points.
