Bogdan Radulescu has announced the release of NimbleX 2007v2, a Slackware-based mini live CD: "NimbleX 2007v2 is out! NimbleX is a small but versatile operating system which is able to boot from an 8 cm CD, from flash memory or MP3 players. Because it runs entirely from a CD, USB or network it doesn't require installation or even much hardware. NimbleX is based on Slackware and Linux-Live scripts. NimbleX 2007v2 highlights: better wireless support; full automatic support for NTFS; changes in Fluxbox (fbpanel); added OpenBox, QuadConsole, Dillo, Guidedog; xconf2 (maybe wide screen will work); ALSA and other software updates; script for creating nimblex.data file; many bug fixes...." Development Release: NimbleX 2010 Beta |
Bogdan Radulescu has announced the availability of a beta release of NimbleX 2010, a Slackware-based live CD with KDE 4: "After a long wait, a new NimbleX version is finally out. Many things have changed, hopefully for the better in the long run. First of all, after about 5 years, the idea of keeping it limited to less than 200 MB was dropped. There is a lot more in the distro right now so it should make the user experience better. Even though almost everything is new, we can still say the major changes include: Linux kernel 2.6.33 with the latest Squashfs and Aufs 2; X.Org Server 1.7.5; new applications - OpenOffice.org instead of KOffice, a lot more of the KDE Games, GIMP, VirtualBox, Firefox, Transmission, GParted and other applications where updated to the latest versions; new desktop environment - KDE 4 is now mature enough to provide an overall better user experience." Distribution Release: NimbleX 2008 |
Bogdan Radulescu announced the availability of the final version of NimbleX 2008, a Slackware-based mini distribution: "This version gets significant cleanups since NimbleX 2008RC, Bluetooth finally works OK, some improvements to the USB installer, significant changes on how NimbleX boots from remote locations (PXE & HTTP), several bug fixes, updates and several other things. I managed to make NimbleX a little slimmer and I also managed to squeeze in the latest VirtualBox so that people can run/test other OSs inside NimbleX. Partimage was added so you can easily clone disks and partitions with NimbleX thus resulting in some mass deployment functionality when users know their way around Linux. I guess here a small tutorial will be posted at some point..." Read the full release announcement for more information. Download (MD5): NimbleX-2008.iso (200MB).

Bogdan Radulescu has announced the availability of the release candidate for NimbleX 2008, a Slackware-based mini distribution: "I am very pleased to announce the release candidate of NimbleX 2008! The important highlights since the beta release are: removed 16 MB of software to remain below 200 MB on the CD image; added the NimbleX USB installer; made improvements to the Safe installer; split NimbleX into 9 parts for greater flexibility; added important software, including LinuxDC++, Avidemux and the GSlapt package manager; polished many things so that it pleases the eye; added and configured Compiz.
