OzOs
OzOs was a Xubuntu-based Linux distribution that uses a heavily-customised Enlightenment 17 desktop, built from the latest development (SVN) sources. The distribution offers a minimal number of pre-installed applications, but additional ones can be added later - either via standard Debian utilities or by using the project's online package repository. It also includes optional extras - small applications, themes and eye candy for the desktop.

Red Hat has announced the second beta release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5: "Red Hat is pleased to announce the availability of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Beta 2. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 has been developed in close cooperation with the Fedora Core 6 and the upstream community. This is the first Red Hat Enterprise Linux release that includes Xen-based open source virtualization technology. The Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Beta 2 release contains virtualization support on the x86 and x86_64 architectures as well as a technology preview of Xen for Itanium 2. Red Hat has published a new update in the company's Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) product line, this one of the 8.x series. The new release, version 8.10, mostly introduces bug fixes and minor updates to the 8.x line. One interesting feature is a change to the behaviour of OpenSSH: "OpenSSH’s response after login failure is artificially delayed to prevent user enumeration attacks. This update introduces an upper limit so that such artificial delays do not become excessively long when remote authentication takes too long, for example in privilege access management (PAM) processing." Additional changes and important details can be found in the company's release notes for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.10. The new version is available to individuals at no cost and can be downloaded through the company's Developer Portal. Red Hat has announced the release of a new update to its 9.x Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) product line. The new version, RHEL 9.3, introduces a few changes, including supporting UEFI environments in cloud instances. "Red Hat, Inc. today announced the general availability of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.3 and the forthcoming availability of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.9. The latest versions of the world's leading enterprise Linux platform fuel production container innovations, add new management services through Red Hat Insights and full support for Stratis as a system storage option. ... Previously, RHEL image builder created EC2 AMD or Intel 64-bit architecture AMIs images with support only for the legacy boot type. As a consequence, it was not possible to take advantage of certain AWS features requiring UEFI boot, such as secure boot. This enhancement extends the AWS EC2 AMD or Intel 64-bit architecture AMI image to support UEFI boot, in addition to the legacy BIOS boot. As a result, it is now possible to take advantage of AWS features which require booting the image with UEFI." Red Hat, Inc. has released Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8.7 earlier this week. This is the latest version of the company's legacy branch of Linux distributions, fully supported until May 2024. RHEL 8.7 brings several new features: "RHEL 8.7 introduces a number of new capabilities, including the ability to view and manage system-wide crypto policies for consistency and reduction of risk, label and optionally encrypt data in sosreports generated in the web console, install only kpatch updates with improved kernel live patching workflow in the web console, download installation media when creating a new virtual machine within the web console, and edit custom firewall services. Also included are several new RHEL system roles, especially the new Redfish Ansible automation modules, which let customers use the Redfish hardware management interface to control the power state of a system, manage the order of boot devices, manage Redfish accounts and virtual media."
