NEW • Development Release: A/DeMuDi 1.2.1 Beta (Live) |
Rate this project
|
The developers of the DeMuDi audio distribution have released a beta of A/DeMuDi 1.2.1, live edition: "I've built up a first prototype of what will be the A/DeMuDi live CD. It's based on Ubuntu's live CD, which is in turn a well-designed combination of the debian-installer and the KNOPPIX approach (cloop compressed filesystem). This is just a prototype with a few key applications, meant as a proof of concept. However I've the feeling is working quite well :) To save time, I've simply remastered (i.e. hacked) an Ubuntu image, but the plan is to eventually incorporate Ubuntu changes (very few though) in the official Debian installer and set up a proper build system which creates the ISO image from scratch, as it's done for the installable image." Here is the release announcement. Download: demudi-live_1.2.1-beta_i386.iso (579MB).

About AGNULA
|
AGNULA (acronym for A GNU/Linux Audio distribution, pronounced with a strong g) is the name of a project funded by the European Commission. The project is coordinated by the Centro Tempo Reale in Firenze and involves important research centers and institutions. AGNULA's main task will be the development of two reference distributions for the GNU/Linux operating system completely based on Free Software (i.e. under a FSF approved Free Software license) and completely devoted to professional and consumer audio applications and multimedia development. One distribution will be Debian-based (DeMuDi) and the other will be Red Hat-based (ReHMuDi). Both will be available on the network for download and on CD. The project started on the 1st April 2002 and will last for two years. In the second year the project will also extend to hardware platforms other than PCs (e.g. PowerPCs, 64-bit architectures).
