To celebrate the 10th birthday of the Italian Linux Society, the knopILS project has released a new version of the KNOPPIX-based live CD. Changes compared to 0.6: synchronised with KNOPPIX 3.7; removed non-essential packages; added User Mode Linux and a simple HOWTO describing how to create a small "live" LAN; added uml-utilities; added kdebluetooth; modified the boot splash script; included a new wallpaper commemorating the 10th birthday of the Italian Linux Society. The knopILS live CD is an Italian edition of KNOPPIX, complete with support for the Italian language. Version 0.8 has been released. The most important improvements include the following: the software package list on the live CD has been synchronised with that on KNOPPIX 3.8; the original hard disk installation program by Fabian Franz has been replaced with a new installer developed by the KANOTIX project; several new applications have been added to the CD, including KStars and ClamAV. knopILS is an Italian variant of the KNOPPIX live CD. Version 0.6 was released earlier today with the following changes: synchronised with the latest available version of KNOPPIX 3.4; updated knopILS HOWTO; updated index.html, knoppix-cheatcodes and readme-SECURITY (all Italian versions), new method of compressing the files on the ISO image.
