Distribution Release: INSERT 1.3.5 |
A major new version of the Inside Security Rescue Toolkit (INSERT) has been released. From the release notes: "This is a major new release. INSERT now boots linux kernel 2.6.11.6; this should improve support for modern hardware (e.g. S-ATA) drastically. INSERT is now based on the release 3.8.2 of KNOPPIX, which means it uses UnionFS, making the complete system writable during execution. INSERT now uses the KDrive X-Servers (XVesa and XFbdev). This frees up a lot of space (approx 12MB) which in turn has been eaten up by the new kernel and loads of package updates. See the changelog for details. Due to the vast number of changes here again comes the plea to send bug reports and/or suggestions." Download: INSERT-1.3.5_de.iso (50.0MB, MD5) or INSERT-1.3.5_en.iso (50.0MB, MD5).

Distribution Release: INSERT 1.2.18 |
A new version of INSERT (Inside Security Rescue Toolkit) has been released. From the changelog: "INSERT now comes with a rather simple script (usb-install) to prepare a USB stick and install onto it. It hopefully will boot on most USB-boot-capable systems since it uses GRUB as the boot loader (very flexible). INSERT should now be usable by blind people. Given the boot option 'blind' the control program for braille terminals is started instead of X. Among the updated packages are: avscan, bash_completion, bashburn, cdrecord.... Some tools were added: calcoo (desktop calculator), fsck.reiserfs and debugreiserfs...." Download: INSERT-1.2.18_de.iso (49.5MB) or INSERT-1.2.18_en.iso (49.5MB).

Distribution Release: INSERT 1.2.17 |
A new release of Inside Security Rescue Toolkit (INSERT) is now available: "Unlike planned, this release is another maintenance release with many updated packages and some tools added. The virus scanner clamav now comes in version 0.80 which makes use of all of the signatures of the new database format. The GUI avscan also has been updated to reflect this. The next major release is planned to come without the accelerated X-servers and instead delivering X from the KDrive servers. This would make room for exciting new tools and toys:) Also plans are to move to Linux kernel 2.6. Please give feedback on those two major issues!" See the full changelog for more information. The Inside Security Rescue Toolkit (INSERT) has been updated to version 1.2.7. Changes: "Thanks to the Multivalent PDF Tools it was possible to compress our included information material to about half its size!
