Distribution Release: Buffalo Linux 1.7.3 |
A new version of Buffalo Linux is out: "Buffalo Linux has gone LIVE! The install format for Buffalo has been changed from the traditional CD install approach to a 'Live' format (using Linux-Live scripts). To install on the hard drive simply click on the INSTALL icon and designate the partition. The current state of the Live environment is copied to hard drive. Also available on the System Admin menu is a 'BackUp' option that will create a Live-CD of your current hard drive partition. During Live-CD the kernel used is i586 (should work on all Intel, AMD, and clones). At install time, the best match of 4 kernels (i586, Pentium 3, Pentium 4, Duron/Athlon) is installed on the hard drive. All kernels are 2.6.11.8." Read the rest of the release announcement on the distribution's home page. Download (i386): Buffalo-Live-1.7.3-4.iso (696MB) and Buffalo-Extras-1.7.3-1.iso (670MB).

Distribution Release: Buffalo Linux 1.6.1.1 |
A new version of Buffalo Linux is out: "Buffalo version 1.6.1.1 has been released. Some of you may have downloaded version 1.6.1. It was placed on the FTP sites while the upgrade from 1.6.0 was being put together. During this process several BUGS were encountered -- hence 1.6.1 was never officially announced -- effectively making it a release candidate. These bug fixes resulted in the patch version 1.6.1.1 as the official announcement release. Included in 1.6.1.1 are a new desktop icon selection (Buffalo IceWM), several new Buffalo Themes, updated Acroread and Opera, plus many new desktop window manager 'bundle' packages: Blackbox, Fluxbox, GNOME, KDE, WindowMaker, XFce." Read the announcement on the distribution's home page. Download: buffalo-1.6.1.1-cd1-01.iso (673MB) and buffalo-1.6.1.1-cd2-01.iso (666MB).

Distribution Release: Buffalo Linux 1.6.0 |
Buffalo Linux 1.6.0 has been released: "Buffalo Version 1.6.0 contains numerous updates -- including the new kernel 2.6.10. Kernel 2.6.8.1 is still available at install time due to issues with some USB features in 2.6.9/2.6.10. Included are Sylpheed 1.0.0, IceWM 1.2.18, OpenOffice.org 1.1.4 and updates to KDE 3.3.2 on the extras CD2. Also available on the main FTP site are additional packages in directory 'other', for example 'libmng' is needed by KDE and was left off CD2 by mistake. Version 1.6.1 is anticipated shortly as a bug fix to this version. It will be available as an auto-update from 1.6.0. No auto-update is provided to 1.6.0 due to the very large size of the changes." Read the release announcement on the distribution's main page. Download: buffalo-1.6.0-cd1-02.iso (698MB), buffalo-1.6.0-cd2-01.iso (646MB).

Distribution Release: Buffalo Linux 1.5.0 |
Buffalo Linux 1.5.0 has been released: "The new Buffalo 1.5.0 is a 2-CD release. The main reason for going to 2 CDs is to provide both kernel 2.6.8.1 and 2.6.9. The new 2.6.9 kernel has known issues with some video drivers (24-bit color problems with i810 for example). The GNOME bundle containing 85 packages was moved to the second CD. Since there was additional space on the second CD, over 250 packages were added (basically the rest of Slackware current as of 30 October). These additional packages provide other desktops such as KDE 3.3.1, Blackbox, FluxBox, WindowMaker 0.80.2, ... and other useful utilities. To load packages from the second CD simply run 'Buffalo Software' on the System menu. Added to CD1 were Firefox 1.0PR and Thunderbird 0.8 with over 80 package upgrades." Visit the distribution's home page to read the rest of the announcement. Download: buffalo-1.5.0-cd1-01.iso (696MB) and buffalo-1.5.0-cd2-01.iso (659MB).
