Blue Linux and JAMD Linux have merged to create a new desktop Linux distribution called Ares Desktop: "In late 2003, the lead developers of two GNU/Linux Desktop distributions started talks on common design goals and the problems faced by smaller desktop vendors. Limited resources, limited developers, limited users and a high level of demand were just a few of the problems. Their solution was to merge their resources and create a new distribution aimed at their common target market. From these efforts Ares Desktop was born." The full press release. Development Release: Ares Desktop Alpha 2 |

This is the first ever public release of Ares Desktop, a Linux distribution launched in January 2004 by merging JAMD Linux and Blue Linux: "I went ahead and opened alpha 2 to the public. It is not bug free and may not work on your machine. But that's because it is alpha. DO NOT USE ON A PRODUCTION MACHINE. I released this because we need to have something released and it may be a while before I can get to the beta 1 installation issues. So check this out for the time being.
