OpenDesktop is a product of OpenDesktop.net, an open source developer community of Chinese software developers. The project is sponsored by several large software companies, universities and research centres from around China. The OpenDesktop distribution is designed for business and home desktop market and its main features are simplified installation procedure, high compatibility with Windows and ease of use. It is based on Fedora Core and released under GPL. The project's first stable version was released over the weekend, and is now available for download: OpenDesktop-i386-disc.iso (679MB). A new version of Co-CreateLinux (formerly known as OpenDesktop) is now available for download. Co-CreateLinux is a Chinese desktop Linux distribution based on Fedora Core and strongly resembling Windows XP. Version 2005 features an updated Control Centre with improvements to login, printing, networking, user and display configuration. Resource management, especially the desktop and network neighbourhood, have also undergone numerous changes. The Firefox browser was hacked to resemble and behave like Internet Explorer, with support for Flash animation, Chinese language CSS attributes and MIME types. XigmaNAS
XigmaNAS (formerly NAS4Free) is an embedded open-source NAS (Network-Attached Storage) distribution based on FreeBSD. XigmaNAS supports sharing across multiple operating systems, including Windows, Apple and UNIX-like systems. XigmaNAS is easy to set up in most home and enterprise environments and will allow to manage and share large amounts of data easily across a network. XigmaNAS also incorporates many different streaming features for sharing multimedia with other devices on the network. XigmaNAS includes ZFS v28 (RAIDZ, RAIDZ2 and RAIDZ3) Software RAID (0,1,5), Disk Encryption, S.M.A.R.T / Email Reports, and it supports the following protocols: CIFS (samba), FTP, NFS, TFTP, AFP, RSYNC, Unison, iSCSI (initiator and target), HAST, CARP, Bridge, UPnP, and BitTorrent. All are highly configurable by using a web interface.
