Amber Linux

Amber Linux was a Latvian Linux distribution based on Debian GNU/Linux. It aims at being the first business desktop Linux distribution that was tailored specifically to the needs of Latvian users. Features include automatic hardware detection and storage device mounting; GNOME as the default desktop environment; OpenOffice.org as the default office applications suite; Hansa Financials accounting software.

NEW • Distribution Release: Gelecek Linux 2.0

After two rounds of beta testing, Gelecek Linux 2.0 has been released. Download it here: gelecek-2.0-disk1.iso (638MB) and gelecek-2.0-disk2.iso (425MB). A new logo and redesigned web site have also been unveiled to mark the occasion. The following links (all in Turkish) give some more information about Gelecek Linux 2.0: home page, announcement, features, hardware compatibility list and screenshots. In Turkey, the boxed product retails for a cool 34,500,000 Turkish Lira, yes that's 34.5 million Turkish Lira, which is about US$21.

Gelecek Linux 2.0 Beta 2

The second beta of Gelecek Linux 2.0, a Turkish distribution has been released. The ISO images are available from several mirrors or from the master site: gelecek-2.0-beta2-cd1.iso (592MB) and gelecek-2.0-beta2-cd2.iso (355MB). If you understand Turkish, the Gelecek home page provides a lot more information, but if you don't, you can visit the page with plenty of pretty screenshots demonstrating Turkish localisation in KDE, GNOME and OpenOffice.

Gelecek Linux 2.0 Beta 1 Released

The Gelecek Linux developers announced version 2.0 some time ago, but it's only now that I have found downloadable ISO images of the first beta. Here you go: gelecek-2.0-beta1-cd1.iso (620MB) and gelecek-2.0-beta1-cd2.iso (271MB). Gelecek Linux is a Turkish distribution based on Red Hat; the word "gelecek" stands for "future". All the links that follow are in Turkish only: home page, Gelecek 2.0 beta information, features and hardware requirements and screenshots. The 2.0 final release is scheduled for later this month.
