Table Notes and Explanations

(Please refer to the table below.)
  • Select view:
  • To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
  • Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "kdelibs" and "plasma-desktop" packages and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
  • Colour scheme: green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

I don't know about the previous reviewer, but I have used 16.10 since the release date on a laptop, office, and home desktop computer, and have yet to have any major issues. I do install all updates in a timely manor and am mostly using it for coding or internet type things. I have done some image processing and used some mathematics software (MatLab, Maple) in a virtualbox (stressing the system some), and the only issue I had was my office computer freezing up in the virtualbox (only because my office won't spring for some extra memory). I would say this is an excellent addition to the Ubuntu flavors...I took a point off the rating only because there is currently no option for a vertical panel (I hear it's coming though) in the Budgie DE. I like that Budgie feels pretty lightweight, yet more polished than some other DEs. There are not a boat load of customizations for Budgie yet, but to be honest the only one I miss is a vertical panel (since I use dual monitors).

It looks really good but it is broken. Things crash constantly, a lot of visual glitches. It isn't nearly as ready for every day use.

16.04 and 16.04.02 Works great on my HP-X360, Dell E6400 & E6500, especially using SSD HD,Makes it very fast booting and shut down.... no major issues, once you learn the layout and modify to your taste, it's very nice.
