| Package searches |
Search the DistroWatch database for distributions using a particular package. If you are looking for a distribution with the latest kernel, select "linux" from the drop-down box below and type the version number into the text box next to it. Please note that GNOME is listed as "libgnome", KDE as "kdebase" and Apache 2.0.x as "httpd". As for versioning, try to be as close to official version numbers as possible: as an example, for libgnome you should type 2.8.0 (not 2.8) and for kdebase 3.3.0 (not 3.3). Have fun and let us know how we can improve the search engine!

| Search by Distribution Criteria (Simple Search Form) |
This section allows you to search for a particular distribution based on certain criteria. Just select the criteria from the drop-down and check boxes below and hit the refresh button to get a list of known distributions that match your choice.
The following distributions match your criteria:
1. Arch Linux Arch Linux is an independently developed, i686-optimised Linux distribution targeted at competent Linux users. It uses 'pacman', its home-grown package manager, to provide updates to the latest software applications with full dependency tracking. Operating on a rolling release system, Arch can be installed from a CD image or via an FTP server. The default install provides a solid base that enables users to create a custom installation. In addition, the Arch Build System (ABS) provides a way to easily build new packages, modify the configuration of stock packages, and share these packages with other users via the Arch Linux User Repository.
2. ClearOS ClearOS is a network and gateway server designed for small businesses and distributed environments. Based on CentOS, a clone of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, the distribution includes an extensive list of features and integrated services which are easy to configure through an intuitive web-based interface. Some of the tools found in ClearOS include antivirus, antispam, VPN, content filtering, bandwidth manager, SSL certification, and web log analyser, just to name a few of the available modules. The distribution is provided as a free download, inclusive of free security updates for 18 months.
3. Linux From Scratch Linux From Scratch (LFS) is a project that provides you with the steps necessary to build your own custom Linux system. There are a lot of reasons why somebody would want to install an LFS system. The question most people raise is "why go through all the hassle of manually installing a Linux system from scratch when you can just download an existing distribution like Debian or Redhat". That is a valid question which I hope to answer for you. The most important reason for LFS's existence is teaching people how a Linux system works internally. Building an LFS system teaches you about all that makes Linux tick, how things work together, and depend on each other. And most importantly, how to customize it to your own taste and needs.
4. OpenBSD The OpenBSD project produces a FREE, multi-platform 4.4BSD-based UNIX-like operating system. Our efforts emphasize portability, standardization, correctness, proactive security and integrated cryptography. OpenBSD supports binary emulation of most programs from SVR4 (Solaris), FreeBSD, Linux, BSD/OS, SunOS and HP-UX. OpenBSD is freely available from our FTP sites, and also available in an inexpensive 3-CD set.
5. Ubuntu Rescue Remix Ubuntu Rescue Remix is a GNU/Linux live system which runs from CD or USB Flash device. It provides the data recovery specialist with a command-line interface environment equipped with some of the best free and open source data recovery and forensics tools available.
6. Userful Desktop Userful Desktop is a complete Linux operating system pre-integrated with a suite of public computer management software and Userful's 10-to-1 desktop advantage. With Userful Desktop and sufficient video cards, mice and keyboards, up to ten users can independently browse the Internet, send email and run a wide variety of productivity software all from one computer box. Built on Red Hat's Fedora Core, Userful Desktop is a robust, multi-user desktop computing platform that can be customised to address a wide variety of public computing applications.
7. VectorLinux Vector Linux is a small, fast, Intel based Linux operating system for PC style computers. The creators of Vector Linux had a single credo: keep it simple, keep it small and let the end user decide what their operating system is going to be. What has evolved from this concept is perhaps the best little Linux operating system available anywhere. For the casual computer user you have a lightening fast desktop with graphical programs to handle your daily activities from web surfing, sending and receiving email, chatting on ICQ or IRC to running an ftp server. The power user will be pleased because all the tools are there to compile their own programs, use the system as a server or perhaps the gateway for their home or office computer network. Administrators will be equally as pleased because the small size and memory requirements of the operating system can be deployed on older machines maybe long forgotten.
8. Xandros Desktop OS Xandros has created a desktop solution that combines the best of open source technologies with a corporate attention to completeness, usability, and support. Version 1 of the Desktop product was based on the award winning Corel LINUX OS and represents the next step in the evolution of the Corel desktop.
