Distribution Release: Tilix 2.1 |
| Tilix 2.1 has been released. Tilix is a Bulgarian desktop Linux distribution based on Kubuntu and completely localised into Bulgarian. The latest release comes with the following changes and new features: based on "Feisty Fawn"; includes Linux kernel 2.6.20, X.Org 7.2, KDE 3.5.7, OpenOffice.org 2.2.0; Beryl 3D desktop; support for Zeroconf and Strigi desktop search; includes popular KDE applications, such as Digikam 0.9.1, Amarok 1.4.7, K3b 1.0.3, Kopete and KNetworkManager; support for read and write to NTFS partitions with ntfs-3g; new game - Scummvm. Distribution Release: Tilix Linux 2.0 |

| The second major release of Bulgaria's Tilix is now ready for download. Unlike the Tilix 1.x series, which were based on KANOTIX, the latest release, code name "Karposh" is built on top of Kubuntu. Apart from standard features, such as complete localisation into Bulgarian, Tilix 2.0 comes with the following new applications and characteristics: Linux kernel 2.6.15.6, X.Org 7.0, KDE 3.5.5 with Kaffeine 0.8.1; ability to write to NTFS file systems via ntfs-3g; new hard disk installation program for installing Tilix directly from live CD session; support for a number of multimedia formats, including MP3 and DivX; integrated browser plugins in Firefox - Flash, Java, FreeWRL, DejaVuLibre, OpenSC; availability of proprietary graphics drivers for easy installation. Development Release: Tilix Linux 2.0 Beta 1 |

| The first beta build of Bulgaria's Tilix Linux 2.0 is ready for testing. The most important changes since Test 3 of the Kubuntu-based distribution include the following: addition of all the latest security updates; upgrades to Amarok 1.4.3, KTorrent 2.0.2 and Konversation 1.0rc1; added a recompiled build of OpenOffice.org from the dapper-proposed branch; various small KDE updates from Debian "etch"; installation of Kopete and Twinkle (replacing Wengo) and kde-hal-device-manager. | The developers of Tilix, a Bulgarian distribution based on Kubuntu, have announced the third test release of the upcoming version 2.0. Some of the changes since test 2 include: addition of Camstream to the main menu; inclusion of KMobileTools 0.5 beta 1; update to ImageMagick and ntfs-3g; addition of Gocr, KGet, Avahi daemon and Smartmontools; Kasablanca has been replaced by KFTPgrabber; upgrades to KTorrent 2.0.1, Amarok 1.4.2 and Wine 0.9.20; recompilation of hal. | Tilix Linux is a Bulgarian distribution and live CD, now based on Kubuntu. The first test build of the upcoming version 2.0 is ready for testing; the most notable changes and updates since the project's 1.0 release are: kernel 2.6.15; KDE 3.5.4 with Kaffeine 0.8.1; NTFS write support; ability to install the distribution from while in live CD mode; support for popular multimedia formats and browser plugins. Distribution Release: Tilix Linux 1.0 |

| The first official release of Tilix, which is a Bulgarian Linux distribution based on KANOTIX, is now available. Tilix 1.0 (code name "Boris") includes: kernel 2.6.13 with many extra modules for improved hardware support, KDE 3.4.2, latest packages from Debian sid compiled with GCC 4.0.1, many new drivers for modems and wireless network cards, new look and feel, graphical boot, new control centre for system administration, new hard disk installer, many other improvements and applications. Development Release: Tilix Linux 1.0 Beta 1 |

| Tilix is a Bulgarian live and installation CD based on Knoppix. The developers are getting ready for the 1.0 release with the first beta, code name "Sabin". It features the Linux kernel 2.6.11.5, KDE 3.4, OpenOffice.org 2.0 beta, support for supermount, and the Reiser4 file system. Many new drivers for wireless cards have been added. Other new features include support for Bulgaria's BTK ADSL, support for a large variety of network interfaces (modems, VPN, ADSL, Bluetooth, ISDN and LAN), a desktop search system, integrated electronic signatures and encrypted certificates, and many other improvements. | Tilix is a Bulgarian Linux live CD based on Debian GNU/Linux and Knoppix. Version 0.5 was released a couple of days ago with the following new features: Linux kernel 2.6.9; KDE 3.3.1; new system for easy installation - "Click & Run"; added Lipstik style for KDE; many package version upgrades; added Bulgarian translation of Firefox; changes in system theme and menus; new programs: Amarok (audio player), Quanta (HTML editor, replaces Nvu), SynCE (communication with PDAs), Karbon14 (SVG editor). Distribution Release: Tilix Linux 0.3 |

| Tilix is Bulgaria's own distribution - a Knoppix-based live CD with a complete desktop in Bulgarian. Version 0.3 was released earlier this week, after several months of development. Some of the newly upgraded packages and features since version 0.2 include: kernel 2.6.5 with ACPI/DMA; KDE 3.2.2, XFree86 4.3.0, Mozilla Firefox 0.8, Mozilla Thunderbird 0.6, Digikam 0.6.0, KBear 2.1, OpenOffice 1.1.1, GCC 3.4 (optional); autodetection of nForce 1/2 LAN cards; an option to install Tilix to hard disk with 'tilix tohd=/dev/hdaX'; support for Internet connectivity with GPRS/IRDA and USB modems.... At one point or another gamers can hit the wall when using other OS systems such as Linux and Mac, as Windows has always been renowned as the OS of choice for the gaming community. In a lot of cases this has changed somewhat over the last few years with the use of virtualization software that helps to bridge that gap, and it can be quite successful to a point. Of course, when you virtualize another OS you can lose some of the performance, than say running a game natively, and with slowdowns and bugs comes frustration. We have listed a few resources that we think are worth a mention for different types of gamers, both online multiplayer and single player, see what you think:
- World of Goo. This is a great puzzle game that will keep you busy for hours, there's also a free playable demo version.
- If you're a online poker enthusiast we can recommend you check out the pokerlistings.com Linux poker page, it has a list of poker apps that are compatible with your OS.
- For the MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) crowds you could always take a look at Vendetta online, "thousands of people can play together, at the same time, in a single, persistent universe", sounds great!
