Distribution Release: Asianux 3.0 |
| Asianux 3.0, an enterprise Linux distribution developed jointly by China's Red Flag Linux, Japan's Miracle Linux and Korea's Haansoft, has been released. Some of the new features include: "Support for various hardware platform including IA32, x86_64, IA64, and IBM p-Series; Support for he latest technologies of Intel 32/64-bit Quad-Core, AMD Barcelona, IBM OpenPower; Redcastle, a new and unique kernel-level security function; integrates OpenDrim, the first open source project sponsored by CJK (China, Japan and Korea) governments which provides a distributed resource management environment; first distribution supporting EFI (Extensible Firmware Interface) on both IA32 and IA64 platforms; will be certified by main software and hardware vendors such as BEA, CA, Dell, EMC, Emulex, HP, IBM, Intel, NEC, Oracle, SAP, Symantec, SWSoft, Virtual Iron, VMware." Distribution Release: Asianux 1.0 |

| Asianux is a recently announced Asian Linux distribution, a collaborative effort between Japan's Miracle Linux and China's Red Flag Linux. It is a server-oriented distribution based on Red Hat Linux, aiming to become a standard enterprise Linux platform for Linux servers throughout Asia. Asianux 1.0 is now available for free download from the distribution's web site: disk1.iso (622MB) and disk2.iso (233MB). At one point or another gamers can hit the wall when using other OS systems such as Linux and Mac, as Windows has always been renowned as the OS of choice for the gaming community. In a lot of cases this has changed somewhat over the last few years with the use of virtualization software that helps to bridge that gap, and it can be quite successful to a point. Of course, when you virtualize another OS you can lose some of the performance, than say running a game natively, and with slowdowns and bugs comes frustration. We have listed a few resources that we think are worth a mention for different types of gamers, both online multiplayer and single player, see what you think:
- World of Goo. This is a great puzzle game that will keep you busy for hours, there's also a free playable demo version.
- If you're a online poker enthusiast we can recommend you check out the pokerlistings.com Linux poker page, it has a list of poker apps that are compatible with your OS.
- For the MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) crowds you could always take a look at Vendetta online, "thousands of people can play together, at the same time, in a single, persistent universe", sounds great!
